Quintero makes more successful long ball passes and long range goals than dribbling through traffic and scoring off of give and goes. That's my opinion. I've followed him and root for him. That's just my opinion. He's a poor man's Riquelme. With the Sub 20 he played as a deep lying creative player. At Porto it seemed like he wanted to play like a Hulk and got benched cut he is no Hulk or James Rodriguez. He played a Moutinho type role and he has had success. I hope he keeps it up.

I agree with you. He isn't fast enough to be a winger or a false 9. Messi has great speed and change in direction those cannot be taught. Quintero has good vision, dribble and can change direction quickly. Those can't be taught either. But his stamina can be improved and defensive skills and tactics can be taught. If those are combined with his shifty change in direction, his passing and he long range shot than you are describing a player like Pirlo more than you are describing a Messi

Say what you all want; I want him to be a CAM where he can fully attack because I honestly think it's a waste of tatent if he doesn't abuse his abilities.

I'm not trying to bash you. I think you and I are in agreement that he should exploit his good qualities. Quintero is good with the ball at his feet. But I think he is good because he has good aim and because of that can pass from and shoot well from far away. He isn't as fast as Messi so even through he can control the ball well players cut him off quickly. Because of that I think he stands a better chance of being a Pirlo e.g. a regista or deep lying creative midfielder than a false 9 like Messi. But to play deep he will have to commit to track back if he goes foward and plug passing lanes. Sorry if it seemed like I bashed you or anything like that. I'm sure we both want to see him successful. I know I want to see Quintero successful I just think the way he will become successful is to re to hone his skills into a deep lying creative midfielder

Like I said, you basically want him to stop being lazy.

I agree. It's tough to find a club with a better set up meaning infrastructure than Porto but other clubs have better coaches and managers. If Quintero stays I hope Porto either keep this coach that is having him play or get a coach that will teach him the deep lying creative mid role better. Or I hope he goes to another club with an even better than manager that will give him playing time at deep lying creative mid.

I think he has talent similar to that of Iniesta. Iniesta is not fastest but has amazing dribbling and technical skills. Just my 2 cents....

Lebron James was made to attack, but he still defends.

Ok, more relevance, Carlos Tevez as a striker actually plays defense when he can and he's small. It's not about your size, it's about sizing up ( a basketball term) which means put a body on the man no matter what. Putting a needle in the road is more dangerous than leaving it empty.

Pirlo aint got shit on JFQ. Every time Quintero passes tha ball inside the box something happens. Either a penalty or a goal.

Does Porto have a new coach? If so, at least Quintero has been impressive.
