Well, it seems Poyet won't be staying after the drop. Rumor is that Kevin Ball, former Sunderland player, already caretaker manager in two occasions, and currently their "development coach" will take over. He has no experience, but as a Black Cats homer, he knows the people very well, perhaps too well.

There are other options bandied around, but no one thinks a top manager or even an experienced one will come:

So it's likely to be some homer with little experience, trying to get the club back up. I hope Jozy gets out ASAP.

PS: In another thread, people are exploring the need of a real tough guy as a manager to stop the drinking culture in their club:

I'm not sure it says much of anything, much less "all". Except perhaps that bile production continues, post-mortem.

It was either Jozy or Lynden Gooch, and Gooch couldn't get back from Dallas on time.

The one funny thing in the whole post was the account name.

Better the bench than the field on this one. Virgimmie starting... Yikes is all I can say.

Yup that might be all she wrote on his season. Wickham with a brace and even the usually invisible (well still is) scocco contributing on the buildup for the first.

And there you see how good Poyet can make his team against a giant like City.

That's one way to have a terrible game without even playing.

    Hmm.

Sunderland record v City under Poyet: 0-1-1.

Sunderland record v City in the four seasons prior to his arrival: 4-2-2.

For some reason, City has played just awful against Sunderland nearly every game in recent seasons.

In one game doubled Jozy's output; sad. Can't finish/can't make the right runs/can't read teammates (how bad they are).

I made an error in the first reply. My apologies. Should be:

    1-1-1 with Poyet.

    3-2-2 before him.

The point stands, but it is obviously not as emphatic.

I left the NBC feed at half time to the sound of Robbie Earle saying (paraphrased) "Conner Wickham is out of his depth". "Altidore should come in". "I wonder what he's doing in training".

Then Wickham scores a brace Ha!

    Altidore is done at Sunderland.
Damn, what a disastrous season for him.

Earle is a mong, says what he's told.

Aye but he'll put it behind him someday. Can't let this due him in. Not everyone can succeed in England. If he was a decent score every 2/3 games in Bundesliga type of striker, I wouldn't be against that.

I hope he doesn't put it behind him with a return to MLS. Maybe Italy. How about Hellas Verona?

Yes. More than ever. Look over at Tony Pullthis. I've said for years he's the smartest man in the EPL. He's got this thing licked. Yes, he doesn't play football, but he does play to win.

Any confidence Jozy may have had has now evaporated. Connor Wickham will play for the rest of the season.

It is even harder to score in Italy which is a more tactical league. Right now his best bet is to hang around till he figures it out. It may have to be in the Championship next season.

No doubt Serie A would be a challenge, but I think it would help his game. He wouldn't score much, but he might become a better footballer.

He right though in this case. Wickham is out of his depth in the BPL. He'll continue to play though for the rest of the season because of the two goals that he scored in this game.
