So what happens when he comes back and it turns out he was so great BECAUSE of the alcohol or drug problem...
Not necessarily, especially with the DUI he got in '04. 7-8 more years of hard drinking past that DUI could easily put someone into a position where he'd need to get some help for himself, even if the only thing it saved was his sanity. If that is how it went down, good for him for recognizing there's a problem while he still has a career to jeopardize. He'll be fine. There's great recovery in SoCal when he's done with his program.
Folks, I'll raise my hand as culpable here as I made a lighthearted comment early on. But my intention was to deflect the seriousness of the issue and wish another person well in a difficult time. But: Please let's keep speculation to zero. I'd like to keep this thread open for news updates and well wishes, though. And that is of course what the majority of posts have been. Cheers.
I hope someone who knows Josh checks out this thread and let's him know about all the support he's getting. Get well soon, Josh!!!
Apparently is wasn't substance abuse, it was stress related and he is still receiving treatment. Our team needs to play better and stop adding to his stress level.
Best news I've heard all day. Looking forward to closing this thread once he's back on the team sheet. Saunders' return is a big plus
So we've got a team full of offensive "stars" who can't actually score, and a goalie in rehab who isn't doing drugs or alcohol. Ok then.
