wow - thanks for the optimism about Colombia!

if you go to the Colombia message board, we still view things with a glass half empty approach - haha. i guess no matter what - the number 1 supporters of a team will always be the #1 critic too!

personally i just want colombia to establish an identity in their style of play and just qualify to a world cup once again! we have the talent on paper offensively - defensively we are weak in the middle but if pekerman can bring us some tactics and a gameplan - we just may turn some heads in qualifiers and the next world cup!

Personally I would love to see Colombia play in that early 90's style of possession. TOUCH TOUCH TOUCH RUN, TOUCH TOUCH TOUCH BACKHEEL RUN! Thats the soccer I have always liked and always will. America de Cali, Junior de Barranquilla and Atletico Nacional.

All of those teams embodied that style of futbol which made Colombia so popular and so strong in the 90's.

Just wondering, will this be Colombia's full team? Or will it be more or less their reserves?

    Pretty much.

It is Pekerman's only FIFA Date scheduled so it will be as close to an "A" team as possible.

2-0 against Mexico in Miami. Falcao and Cuadrado.

Pekerman has a lot of young talent to work with and already has the team look very organized in just three days.

    Thank you Argentina. :D

I watched the the last 30 minutes of the game, and I have to say Colombia looked good. Congrats on the win.

There were a lot of Colombiano's at the game. I think for the first time(minus the US) the Mexicans might of been out numbered at a game in the US.

    Gracias.

Miami has a lot of Colombians that is for sure.

Brazil when they defeated Mexico is the only other match in which the Mexicans were outnumbered. It was by a landslide in Massachusetts (something like 70-30 Brazil fans) this one was maybe 60/40 Colombian fans.

    Anyway, highlights of the goals:

Nice second goal. Looks like Jose has them playing with real width and keeping the ball too with patience.

What system did he play ? And was Carla Ossa in the crowd ? ;)

It was a basic 4-4-2 although Pabon is not a true striker. He and Cuadrado were everywhere on the field so at times it felt like we had 5 mids. Other times 3 Forwards. Versatile formation.

    Thanks for the information clenbuterol.

That way with a forward dropping deep makes the oppositions life difficult and makes the midfield that bit more secure.

From that I would take Jose is slightly worried about the current defence and using the midfield as a ball retaining shield. Much as with us.

It'll certainly be interesting to see the teams match up next year.

You got it. You did not even watch the game an described it pretty well.

It will be certainly interesting when we face off. A chess match of beautiful soccer.

Hopefully both Argentina and Colombia are in the top 3 of the table. :p

That second goal... made in Pekerman. Meanwhile we have decided to think it's 86 again and hope that Messi will win us a world cup.

Pekerman can bring a revolution to Colombia. Probably the best side on paper since the early 90's. I always liked his style. Colombia will need to win on the road now, those 2 games where points were dropped at home may hurt, but a couple road wins should do the trick(minus Argentina of course ;)). If Colombia get in, I think they will make the top 8 of the World Cup.

I wonder, if Pekerman does reasonably well coaching Colombia, would he get the opportunity to coach Argentina again?

I don't know, I would hope so, but I doubt he will even want it.

But I was thinking about this the other day. Would I want Bielsa or Pekerman? I somewhat lean towards Pekerman.

If he does well I would hope the Colombian federation would do everything in its power to keep him for another 4-8 years.

He would be treated like a king down there and get a key to every city!

Going back to Argentina may just give him pressure and stress he may not want at his age.

I'd pick Bielsa over Pekerman simply because Bielsa understands Messi's game the best. Also Messi respects Bielsa blindly and would follow him anywhere. Newells Old Boys anyone?

Pekerman had Messi already and under delivered. Same thing with Trezeguet, Pekerman didn't see the talent and let him go.

This isn't a condemnation of Pekerman god knows I'd love him back but if it's between him and Bielsa and the current crop of players I'd take Bielsa all the way.

Oh and be afraid of Colombia! They will be super good now.

Mabye. But if it wasn't for Jose, Messi would most likely be playing for Spain right now.
