Messi was on a 20 PK conversion streak. Koeman holds the record with 25. Guess he won't get that "record".

I'd say we'll drop at least 4 pts playing like this (assuming we advance in the CL). Terrible 2nd half performance.

If Neymar, Alexis and Cesc finish off their chances, this actually would look one sided.

    Time to support Sociedad.

On to Atletico and the continuation of the stalemate. Hopefully 2-2 this time.
    But I'd take a dominating victory. :)

We often struggled in first leg ... 1-2 against Arsenal, 2-2 against Arsenal, 1-1 against PSG, 0-2 against AC milan

Apparently good finishing might be asking too much. But the problem is how often Betis was able to almost score. Now I know psychologically the team was probably in 2nd gear. ATM who is much better barely got a sniff of the goal this past week. But if we advance in the CL, I am not so sure we won't see the team play like this again in La Liga. At that point we'll be really riding our luck.

The 2nd leg was at home for all of those ties though.

We got full credit for only one half of effort. Hope it just means were saving it all for Atleti.

No, used to live here back in 2002-03. Darkest days of the Gaspart regime, IIRC.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with Barca's appeal - but if they are allowed to sell and buy players this summer Sanchez has to go. I don't think I've ever seen an attacker so utterly clueless about what to do with the ball once he's inside the penalty area. He used to play well against relegation teams and disappear against the big teams (except two games against Real Madrid) - but now he's starting to fade against the relegation teams.

Not to burst that picture's bubble, but I don't think you can interpret it that way. I am pretty sure that shows how many PKs they've scored in La Liga not how many were awarded to each team in their respective time periods. From 04 to probably 08, Messi wasn't Barca's PK taker. So most of those 40 have probably come in the last 5 years or so.

like I mentioned in another thread

he seems to take to many touches and lose awareness of where the ball is at some point

but hey he seems to improve every season

I think it's fair to say that Messi is just about as much "Pessi" (terrible nickname btw, too close to "Pissy") as CR7 is "Penaldo".
