    this

    he's warming up

i'd put him in for Lucho or Pato. move Fabian to the middle and Morales out wide on the left.

Chatón would make a better CB than Reynoso.

Big props to Turco Mohamed. He read Chivas' high backline perfectly.

    luis perez has been non-existent

i would put in giovani hernandez for perez at the half

we need to control the ball better and stop loosing the ball in the center mid

I agree that he is better in center, but i think Van wants to play him Ronaldo style on the left, but he hasn't figured it out yet. Our team is totally dependent on having Marquez(9) to function; it is night and day the difference when we have a good 9.

Lugo was/is only a temporary fix. What this tells me is that Van't Schipp has not been able to get the most out of our strikers; mainly Cubo. I think it is now time to get rid of Pina; who must be worth peanuts in the transfer market.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Reynoso gets transfered. Anyways, it's good to be in liguilla. Congratulations Mr. Chip the season was not a total failure, however, there has been no significant improvement. Captain Hindsight already spoke; "If you want to have a better season you will have to buy better Refuerzos."

Pina is being wasted playing as a striker. he plays much better playing wide. i don't understand why a lot of our coaches (Guero, Flores, JVS, etc.) insist on playing him as a striker.

and Fabian as well is being wasted playing wide. he belongs in the middle where he does more damage.

hopefully after these past 2 games, JVS saw that playing with 3 DM's does not suit us. the team held onto the ball better and generated better plays once we went from playing with 3 DM's to 2 in the 2nd half.

Marquez Lugo is looking very doubtful to play in the liguilla, so i hope JVS sticks either Cubo or Fierro up top.

the liguilla is a whole new tournament so anything can happen. i've got faith that we can be a huge surprise.

i just hope our defense does not come out playing like they did today. our entire backline, more so Reynoso, looked like shit.

i really hope Vergara reconsiders in his decision in not bringing back Maza. unless it's Cruyff/JVS who are making the decisions in that regard.

I think Van wanted to see what up with pina up top, since he has no faith in Cubo/Fierro. I would stick fabian up top, but that won't happen. Is Cubo still suspended? I don't really put too much on this game, as Chivas came flat footed without any hurry to do much, other than not loose by 6 goles. We will see what happens up top on wednesday. Fierro is the only other choice, especially if Cubo is still suspended.

The Season that Chivas finished atop the table the difference between first and eight place was six points (2 games). This time around it is 9 points (4 games). And the difference between 8th place Chivas and 14th place Atlante is 1 game (3 points). We could argue that these stats show how level the playing field is but judging how poorly Chivas has been playing to me these stats only show how mediocre the Mexican league can be.

Out of the 8 teams that qualified to the playoffs Chivas has the least amount of goals scored with 17 for and 17 against compared to first placed Toluca's 28 plus goals for a +11 goal differential. This is quite a difference from the first place Chivas team that was eliminated by Queretaro. That season there were squads that did not qualify to the playoffs that had scored more goals during the regular season than Chivas.

Still, anything can happen our odds are just not that good especially with our top striker sidelined. Also, I would like to point out that Chivas does not have much of a home field advantage. So, I'm guessing that there will be another 10 pesos first come first served free Chiva Cola and Torta Ahogada deal in the works with the first 1,000 fans receiving a pair of Vergara's fuzzy ball sack car accesorie.

Now, the obvious states that we need a consistent striker (as good as Lugo's season was he is anything but consistent) and a new leader in defense. In the past we have had el Emperador Suarez and even Salcido. Reynoso unfortunately is not cut from the same cloth and I do not see any of our current players stepping up to fill that role to be that defensive rock. I dream of Maza and even of a Severe Table for next season.

^^^It's winner of 1vs8 vs winner of 4vs5, so América/Morelia.
Any links for that? When do they play?

He had missed a bunch of call-ups before because of his first team duties. I hope he impresses Almaguer and regains his position as a starter.

It is too early to say. It can all change depending on all the other games.

    this seaon is an improvement,
In my opinion JVS had a lot less to work with with, counting the olympic players who were out for the first month of the season and having a ridiculous amount of injuries.

bright spots (lost to both last season)
    beating america and atlas
    qualifying for the play-offs

    negatives
    injuries
    inconsistencies with players
