We can't have this discussion from an American point of view. If you polled US soccer fans, less than 5% would know who "el Magico" is. I'd guess the most recognized Salvadoran in the US is Mauricio Cienfuegos.

The best CONCACAF player I've ever seen is Hugo.

Although another 10 years from now I might be saying Andres Guardado. That kid is ridiculous.

Most of the Americans don't know el Magico because Football is barely starting to get it's respect. The MlS is like 10 or so years old. Mexicans don't like to remember el Magico porque les dio verga cada ves que jugo ES vs Mex. En serio me vale verga vos, que piensen de el mago yo se que el fue mucho mucho mas mejor que calquier gringo y fue del nivel de Hugo y muchos dicen que hasta mejor solo que el mismo se jodio porque no quizo jugar con el Barca.

Playing in a bigger club does not make you a better player. Marquez plays for Barcelona but he is pretty wack.

If you would put el Magico and Hugo Sanchez against each other. El Magico is the man hands down.

Here in the US we know who HUgo Sanchez is because 1) He played in MLS and 2) He is coach of the hated Mexican National Team. Put El Magico in Real Madrid and put him as Mexican Head Coach and let's see who would know who Hugo Sanchez is.

Maradona played against these two players. Players have more say on who is better than fans .Our opinions are based on what we saw on TV not on actual expirience.

Anyway, for me:

El Magico > Hugo Sanchez (overrated)
