Might as well call him into the full team ASAP. Given our problems at CB it's not inconceivable that he could be #4 or so on the depth chart for us now or sometime soon. Klinsmann doesn't seem afraid to fast-track young players, and Brooks seems like the ideal candidate for the fast-track treatment.
I rather see him stay with Hertha if they get promoted back to the Bundesliga so he won't miss any time on training camp.
If he starts and plays well the rest of this season, I'd say he would likely have a safe spot with Hertha. Plus, the U-20 WC final ends about 4 weeks before the BL season starts. So it could easily be 5 or 6 weeks depending how well/bad we do (if we make it).
We're the only way he can play in the U-20 WC He is age eligible for the 2015 UEFA U-21 cycle however.
What I meant was, I think we should just not tell Brooks about the qualifiers until they happen because if he knows he has to fly half way across the world to play in Saprissa stadium... well he might reconsider.
Please forgive my ignorance, but if he has now played in multiple games with the German U-20s, why are we the only way he can play in the U-20 WC? Qualifying for that hasn't happened yet, has it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_UEFA_European_Under-19_Football_Championship The U-20s for Germany are like our U-18s.
Germany did not qualify for next year's U-20 WC, UEFA used the U-19 tourney for qualifying. Think of Germany's U-20's (when it's not playing at the U-20 WC) the same as our U-18 NT. They're too old for the U-19 UEFA's, but also too young (unless they're good enough) for the UEFA U-21's, which is really an U-23 tourney.
He played in one friendly for the German U20 ( and that's inconsequential as far as FIFA is concerned - playing in a competitive match for the German youth teams would cap him for Germany though, can only change countries once ). In Germany the U21 European Championship is the most important youth tournament rather than the U20 WC and that team has big issues in central defense. There's a slim chance Brooks could be called for the German U21 for the finals if he continues to be a starter for Hertha. Players like Freiburg's Matthias Ginter really should be first in line, but current manager Rainer Adrion's call-ups are somewhat...erratic at times.
According to "Tagesspiegel" Brooks would like to be part of the german squad for the U-21-Euros. Coach Adrion says, he is an option. The club probably also would rather like to see Brooks play the Euros instead of the U-20 WC because its right after the end of the season. http://www.tagesspiegel.de/sport/he...-nebenmann-fabian-lustenberger/7680312-2.html
F**** I will say it for the 100th time, Klinsmann needs to call him up for World Cup qualifiers or the Gold Cup and cap tie his a**.
For ******** sake Brooks, either play for us or Germany! Jesus. Ramos or Klinsmann better act quickly before we lose another Subotic.
Before people freak out (too late already, I know) are there actual quotes in that article. Because we have quotes from bshredder's article that he prefers our team and that his priority is the U-20 WC with the US team
