Well it is super hard to break into BM first team and even harder for youth players to do it. In terms of playing time and getting first team minutes then Hertha is the right choice.

I'd venture to guess yes. He'd be just one of many at Bayern. At Hertha he will be given every chance to succeed. It's not like he turned down a European move for a DA team. Hertha were, up until a complete epic collapse one season, a perennial mid table Bundesliga team.

Great article and interview. Brian Sciaretta's Twitter page is a great way to follow breaking news for all of our yanks abroad.

Will someone check his thyroid please! We don't need a 7 ft defender. At some point your height begins to reduce your ability to quickly move around the pitch.

6'7" may (may) already be that point.

How many 6'7" CBs are there in the big four leagues?

One thing I like about soccer is you can be pretty much any size and still play (within reason obviously) unlike basketball

Within in what reason? I think that's what we're trying to figure out. 6-6, 6-7 6-8 6-9? At what point is it out of that reason.

He's pretty well reached the upper echelon. Peter Crouch and Per Mertesacker were at that height. However if you could get a mobile version of Mertesacker, holy smokes...

I just don't think you can say a player is X tall so its not going to happen for him. From reports he is smooth on the ball and can pass well. Doesn't seem to effect him that much so I don't think if he doesn't "make" it that its because of his heights

granted, you are mostly right, but there are shorter NBA players, you just have to really fast, or have some very effective skill and you'll probably never reach the level of some of the greater players.

Edit: i apologize in advance for the song in the first video if you actually bother to watch these

Neither of those aspects have much to do with height. The most worrisome aspect would be his lateral quickness. If he can move side-to-side then he could be special.

Center of gravity is more important than height. He appears to have short legs for his height which would significantly improve his ability to change directions and adjust his movements.

Great to hear. In no way doubting the kid, just stating what i believe to be fairly common. Its a reason why you don't see a whole lot of cornerbacks above 6'0.
