Re: WTVN Snubs Crew I think you made some good, constructive, solid suggestions. I'm hoping he's listening (and suspect he will). My comments were more toward those who might call up on Saturday--and noting that the title of this thread was a bit off as WTVN has been pretty supportive in the past.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew I like Joel as a member of the Big Bass Brothers but he can't hold a candle to Bob Conners. I've stopped listenig to 610 on my morning commute in favor of internet radio streaming over my phone. I've been listening to the replay of the previous night's Free Talk Live based out of NH which is on from 6-9 on lrn.fm. Pretty interesting show.
Crew fans tend to be rather tempermental when it comes to perceived "snubs". I came here preparing to tell people to stop whining. Holy jumpin' frogballs with this guy. To be that unprepared or openly apathetic during an interview is just grossly bad form. Shameful.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew You're right, I forgot that it was Chuck who is now doing the show. Joel did it for awhile but perhaps only filling in BC. Maybe it might be worthy of "some" discussion, though, just to get it out there, especially since the season is upon us. Perhaps it might be better closer to Crewsmas. Hopefully, Joel got the message today but I doubt we'll hear anything else about it otherwise Corby and his producer will be ragging on him during the Big Bass Brothers or something.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew We did--albeit obliquely. He referred during the sports segment while talking about Lin at 7:20 to "getting it right for 6 months at this station and then you screw up just once...".
Well, it's not like he screwed up anything important, like the maiden name of the third string free safety's mom.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew He probably is still missing the boat on this one. He didn't just mess up with MM or RW, he screwed the pooch with the COMMISSIONER of a MAJOR LEAGUE SPORT. He reflected not just badly on himself and his (lack of) journalistic competence, he publicly made Columbus look bad too. If he did the same thing with the Big Ten Commisioner, his "apology" wouldn't be half-arsed just like his original erroneous interview. That, of course, is assuming he would have still been on the air with the station to make any kind of apology...
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew He also did give a pretty good plug to the team and then new FSOH contract right after that. I think he knows he goofed--let's give him a chance. We're just not used to it because Bob was so good (and a soccer person). But replacing a legend is really hard.
Follow up... Hey guys. I'm kind of disappointed at this point. I thought I had written a professional and eloquent email which conveyed my message perfectly. All I was looking for was the same acknowledgement that the Danica Patrick crash got. Just saying... This is embarrassing for Columbus. Thanks. Matt
http://www.971thefan.com/content/bl...e-interviews-mls-commissioner-dan-garber.html I believe that Joel Riley needs to listen to Jonathan Smith AKA T-Bone from 97.1 The Fan for pointers. He did a great job with his interview with Don Garber.
