Call me silly, but I can somehow see four goalkeepers, for whatever reason.

anyway - Boyd, Castillo, Fiscal and Kljestan. Just can't see him going wild card.

The only reason he would bring 4 GKs is if he hasn't already decided on his top 3. Or more importantly on HIS number 3... 1 & 2 are set. He has played Rimando a lot this year, so I think the top 3 are set.

If one of them gets injured he can call up his fourth. Probably Johnson.

I went with Chandler, Ream, Williams and other (Green). He'll be waiting on Chandler's fitness, but the last few weeks of the season are going to show that Ream and Williams are as good as any option we have at their positions and hard to leave off the 30 man roster. Green will get a call probably as agreed prior to his switching nationalities.

I'm certain that the top 3 are decided, but extended camps usually have 4. Bradley and Arena both brought in college keepers as fodder.
    a. its a waste to bring an MLS keeper in season in with no realistic shot of making the team.
    b. one less outfield player to bring in.

Without seeing any indicators that he will be added back to the mix I just don't think you can assume Chandler will back.

Just about every time that Shea has taken the field for us as a sub he has made something happen.
Now, he scares the crap out of me as a starter if he were to have to take over for someone injured but...............
    I'd bring him along.

Maybe college kids were brought in as fodder, but they were not part of the 30 in 2010.

    2010 30 man provisional roster - Keepers:
    Brad Guzan
    Marcus Hahnemann
    Tim Howard

After 13 votes the race is tight. Boyd in first and a 5 way tie for second... to bad JK can't bring 32 guys.

    Boyd 6 votes - 46.2%
    Orozco 5 votes - 38.5%
    Yeldin 5 votes - 38.5%
    Kljestan 5 votes - 38.5%
    Shea 5 votes - 38.5%
    Williams 5 votes - 38.5%

He can bring 32 or even 40 if he wanted.

26 to 30 seems to be the current range that he has given in recent pressers.

Yes, but only 30 players officially make the 30 man FIFA release list that is due May 13th. The final 23 players are chosen from this 30 man release list.

You said "too bad JK can't bring 32 guys". He can bring any number into the prep camp that he wants. The list of 30 sent to FIFA does not have to be from his prep camp.

Say Bradley (god forbid) gets hurt and does not make the prep camp. JK can still submit his name in the prelim 30 and final 23 to FIFA.

Maybe I wasn't perfectly clear , but what I meant was it's to bad JK can't submit 32 guys to FIFA. I thought this was implied since this is a thread about guessing the last 4 guys to make the 30 man list.

..and yes, the list of 30 sent to FIFA does not have to be from his prep camp, but if a player is healthy and on the list they will be at the camp.

I don't think that it is that tight that we would benefit from having 2 more slots to submit names to FIFA. I believe that the staff already has a very high confidence on the 23 with maybe 3 or 4 slots possibly in contention. 27 or 28 names should be sufficient.

It won't be a popularity contest like the voting here. A player like Castillo will get much more consideration since he is a natural left back and the recent scare to DMB therefore makes Castillo more valuable to the prep camp roster.

Keep in mind, replacements do not have to come from the 30 if they happen late, correct?

Boyd, Chandler, Williams, Agudelo. Orozco/Brooks is probably smarter than Agudelo, but I don't think either of those guys has a chance to actually go, barring an injury. And given my understanding of the replacement rules, being on the 30 doesn't necessarily matter. Hence, I'll take 4 guys who I think could play their way onto the 23.

IIRC FIFA states that you can replace a player up to 24 hours before a match in the event of serious injury. That player does not have to come from the initial 30 person roster.

Yes. All 30 of those players must be released by their clubs for Pre-World Cup friendlies and camps.

The reason why some nations have larger rosters (I remember CIV had a 33 man preliminary roster last year) is that 30 names must be submitted to FIFA, but a coach is free to call more than 30, but clubs are under no obligation to release players not named to the list. A 32-man camp is possible if Klinsi works out an agreement with respective clubs. (I can totally see Julian Green meeting that criteria, for example)

Well, I picked Corona, Boyd, Yedlin and Feilhaber. The reason I picked Corona, Boyd and Yedlin is that even though they are not likely to crack the 23, JK is going to be coach after the World Cup, and he has to prepare for a Gold Cup, then the 2016 Copa America, and then qualification. There really is no time to lose, and I feel youth would be served here by inviting these players to camp to prepare for the future. After all, Micheal Bradley looked stellar in 2006, and really helped him for the upcoming cycle. Corona, Boyd and Yedlin will probably feature at the 2015 Gold Cup, and I'd give camp time to Boyd over Gomez who will not likely crack the 23 and will not really factor in to the US picture after 2015 anyways.

As for Feilhaber, I am of the impression that Kljestan does not make the 30 at all and Feilhaber has essentially taken his spot as the CM we don't take. I predict Bradley, Jones, Beckerman, Diskerud, and Edu to make the 23, leaving Feilhaber the odd man out. Normally, I would have gone with Gil, but in case of an injury to any of those aforementioned players, I'd go with Feilhaber as my first choice replacement.
