You're joking, but I'm a little worried for them. Look at the goals they've taken against Chile U-20: 3rd, 4th and 5th goal are embarassing.

but come on I even mentioned a masterplan :ROFLMAO: their masterplan so far is probably to find some time to train when they're not working as usual at their local store or whatever (though I heard they finally got paid by the federation for a couple of months to concentrate on training =) )

Hopefully their keeper will move the goal back and forth when necessary

Will Zac continue to use Maeda up front for no reason at all? Use Okazaski there instead.

But they are completely different players... I understand that he's sucking hard now, but if you want to switch him, for the lone striker you have to check out the other players like Sato, Toyoda, Kudo, Watanabe, etc.
The first reason in what they're different is that Okazaki is short. Sato is the same, and sadly it's something that puts him in an unfavorable position

ok... but he does because he plays where he's supposed to! :)
And he scores only in the JNT lately, so he isn't exactly such a scoring machine that you could literally threw in another position and make a gamble.
    Makes sense?

Yeah so put him where he is supposed to then. Where has he been playing when he is scoring??

Stuttgart is another issue. He is often used as a winger there.

Play him as Okada did against England (Japan lost cuz of 2 own goals) and put Inui/Kiyotake in his former spot.

what? I'm confused, sorry. Where is " he supposed to " ? Where do you think he played in Shimizu?
I'm serious, what do you mean?

hmm? But he's doing well now... maybe you mean before in JNT before the WC? But he wasn't always a lone striker... and when he was, it didn't always go that well (I still remember the 2-0 at home against SK :/) and it ended with him being dropped for Honda...

Also I'm not sure what to take from that famous 2009 since more than half of those goals came from Hong Kong, Yemen, Togo anyway :/ this time the opponents are way harder, I think we should focus on real strikers. Personal opinion.

teioh: but Okazaki did not score in that match lol ?

I mean . Give Okazaki a free role upfront, take Maeda out and put in an midfielder. A defensive one for instance.

Well Brazil failing that hard at home would be quite historic... I don't think they'll lose against anyone at home... - at least in their group

    except Japan

    Italy-Mexico- 3:1
    Brazil-Mexico- 2:1
    Japan-Italy- 0:0
    Japan-Mexico- 2:2
    Brazil-Italy- 3:2

    Brazil- 9
    Italy- 4
    Japan- 2
    Mexico- 1

Quite honestly, all of these teams have been in poor form recently. Brazil and Mexico's only victories this year have been against bottom-feeders Bolivia and Jamaica while Italy's only wins have been against Malta and San Marino. Some people seem to think that Mexico's the real dark horse in the group, but I think they're the worst. None of their players had decent seasons this year except maybe Chicharito and Carlos Vela, who isn't in the squad, and when I watched them play the US at Azteca this year, they were pretty terrible.

The current crop of Brazilians really doesn't stack up against the Ronaldo/Roberto Carlos generation, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since they're the home side. I think we'll perform respectably, but I just have a hunch we won't make it through. But we've beaten Argentina and France the past couple years and no one expected us to advance at the 2010 WC so hopefully my pessimism's misplaced.

All I want to see from JNT is giving the other three teams a run for their money and playing well in generally.

If they end up losing all three, so be it. But if they will be dominated by any of those teams or they will play crap in general, I will be disappointed

You expect Japan to dominate against Brazil and Mexico?

Brazil lacks of identity and it is too full of itself. These things might mark its defeat.
Of couse, if Brazil play how it can, it can beat all the teams of the world.

Brazil has a tendency to get off to a slow start and raise their game in their knockout matches. I hope it will be a close game....
