Is there really any chance of players being called up who are not US citizens?

Eddie Johnson has tweeted he's going - which means players know and we should get a roster announcement imminently. Anyone watching Omar Gonzalez's twitter? ;)

He's not the type of person that spills the beans like EJ but he did tweet that he's in London.

^He clarified that's who he was hearing about on twitter, not an official source unfortunately, but there was this below. "if available" is interesting, though might be a throwaway statement.

    Doug McIntyre@DougMacESPN
@cboehm I have it on damn good authority that Omar will be called in if available, not that that's surprising. #usmnt

And then there is this - my underline, not his, pretty sure he's not talking about pre-season (and now I feel like a stalker):

    Omar Gonzalez@Omar4Gonzalez
Just a little vacay with my girlfriend during the off season. Trying to make the most of my short time off!

Talk about a guy who has every chance to play his way into major minutes immediately.

    Can lightning strike twice?

    Cameron last year...expected for me.

    Omar this year...I'm not convinced.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed and holding my breathe. We need him to be ready.

Approve of all these guys if true. DeLeon specifically is a guy that I can't wait to get minutes, I think he could be a big surprise for many. The guy has a very complete game, wouldn't be shocked at all to see him play his way into the set up.

DeLeon also is being recruited by T&T. So if the USMNT staff sees a future for him, they have to give him some opportunities. [And he's earned a look based on his MLS performances]

Brek Shea is a bit of a surprise for me, as I didn't think he'd be recovered from his surgery in time for this camp.

I like Deleon and I hope to see him at Camp Cupcake, but I'm not worried about losing him to T&T. Unless he dreams of the Gold Cup, he has no incentive to play for them since they are already eliminated from World Cup qualifiers. If he can't break his way into the US squad, he should hold out at least until the start of the next cycle.

He wasn't claiming to have info, he was just polling his followers

    Charles Boehm@cboehm
Seriously - let me hear from you RT @MLS: Which MLSers do you want to see included in Klinsmann's January camp? http://ow.ly/gpIAz#USMNT

    Charles Boehm@cboehm
So far I'm hearing: N De Leon, O Gonzalez, Brek Shea, C Pontius, Sean Johnson, Sheanon Williams. #USMNT #CampMiniStrudel

    Charles Boehm@cboehm
Sorry, clarification: I used "I'm hearing" to refer to twitter, not official/sourced word about who JK will actually call. My bad.

    My strudel:

    (4) Gk: Johnson, Hamid, Clark, Rimando
    (7) Fb: Williams, Sarkodie, Myers, Beitashour, Morrow, Sinovic, Pearce
    (7) Cb: Besler, Gonzalez, John, Soares, Okugo, Hedges, Berry
    (9) Mf: Diskerud, Cronin, Feilhaber, Kitchen, Jones, McCarty, O'brien, Bedoya, Zusi
    (7) Fw: DeLeon, Adu, Gaven, Magee, Gatt, Pontius, Shea
    (8) Cf: Johnson, Sapong, McInerney, Cooper, Bruin, Gordon, Wondolowski, Agudelo

Yeah, it won't happen, but I don't see a reason why not call in a large camp and divide them in two. They need the training and the competition. Plus, all these players are deserving.

    Team I
Johnson; Beitashour, Besler, Gonzalez, Morrow; Jones, Zusi, Diskerud; Pontius, Gatt, Johnson

(Hamid; Sinovic, Okugo, Myers; Kitchen, Magee, Bedoya; Bruin, McInerney, Gordon)

    Team ii
Rimando; Sarkodie, Berry, John, Pearce; Cronin, McCarty, O'brien; Agudelo, Deleon, Wondolowski

(Clark; Williams, Soares, Hedges; Feilhaber, Gaven, Shea; Bruin, Cooper, Sapong)

May want to add Duka and Beckerman to make it an even 22 for each team.

    Camp starts January 3.
    First week-fitness
Second/third week-teams training/scrimmage, end week with each team having to face an international opponent
Third/fourth week-create new 23 man roster. Play 1-2 games at end of january.

Yes, we are 3 days away. England is the only league playing games, and English players won't be here anyway, save maybe guys who never play (Edu).

    Which part?

That the camp is going to start Jan 3? That was earlier in this thread. Though it was unsourced. The Canada game is on the 29th. So maybe it will be shorter. Though I suppose some players could arrive sooner than others. Still, my point was, why not just go ahead and announce the roster: the vast majority of players who are likely going to be called aren't playing any games, so you don't have to wait about injuries and such affecting the roster. Because, if they players ARE playing games for their club, they won't be called since there isn't a FIFA date and clubs won't want them to miss time.

That English players won't be called in? That is just common sense. It is a month long camp. Or even at 2 weeks, the same thing applies. There is no FIFA date. Do you think English clubs that are actively playing games will just let JK walk away with Tim Howard and such for a month during a critical stretch of their season? Maybe Edu since he never even suits up.
