My guess is Hinterberger, the current sport director, remembered him from his time when he was youth coordinator at Nürnberg. Jann knows him too and that could have been the reason why he decided for 1860. Not to forget, like in the Wood case, it is easier to get pro level playing time at 1860.
Not a bad play to end up. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the way 1860 has developed and treated their players. George will be in good hands now it's just up to him to take care of business. He gets a shot at redemption and it's make or break.
Since 1860 is giving important 2nd chances to both Wood and George perhaps we should get them something for Christmas.
I rather consider Wood and George as your try to make amends for the anti-soccer players we got in person of Berhalter, Wolff and Cooper. And we should not forget that the two boys learned playing the game here and the three last-named guys learned it in.....

He seems to have a problem with authority and a bit of an ego. He would not play the role he was given, questioned it and was dismissed. Seems to be a pattern with him.

I mean, I would kind of be a dick too, if I were named "Jan" and everyone called me that. Seriously though, Jann supposedly has a butt load of talent but just keeps running himself into the ground with his attitude. Yet, he keeps getting chance after chance. At some point he's gotta man up if he wants to continue building his career.
Where did you see him? I do find it difficult to believe that you've seen him play, given he's never played above the Regionalliga or appeared in an international youth match.
