Yea somebody should! I know i am going to donate some bucks, along with getting family members and other bolivians.
He's a national hero. The first George Bush named him in a debate when asked who a true hero was. The other candidate said the working man or some such other vague answer. Bush said Jaime Escalante without hesitation.
^^ I didnt know that. Thats awesome. I just had a aunt die of cancer recently a couple days ago in bolivia. I am sure she'll get to meet jaime soon enough. But yes, donations are needed to make things easier for his family!
Sad news. On a lighter note, what happened to the girl in this video? She looks like she had plastic surgery at a clinic in El Alto! Everytime she moves her mouth, her earlobes stretch!
RIP Jaime Escalante http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-jaime-escalante31-2010mar31,0,7083760.story http://www.lostiempos.com/diario/ac...que-inspiro-filme-stand-and_63938_116131.html passed away a few hours ago
Guy left a great legacy. Up to the 1960's, barely 12% of Bolivia got a decent education (Got passed HS). Imagine how many more Jaime Escalante potentials never got their fair shot due to a corrupt system that refused to offer education to over 85% of it's population. Soo much potential lost. Too bad for Bolivia. If we can build Tiwanaku, w/ limited resources, we can do anything. RIP Jaime.
