Keifer Sutherland will return as Jack Bauer in a revised version of 24! It seems plans to make a movie version fizzled out and the cancellation of Sutherland's latest series Touch made him available for a TV comeback as Bauer.

Even with the cancellation of Touch, I suppose I assumed Bauer would not be a central character.

//I was thinking Raiden in MGS2.

Jack is back in 2014. Bauer will of course be the central character.

I am a HUGE 24 addict. I think the addition of Heller as President is meant to LIKELY act as tension between Heller's personal relationship with Jack (whos now a fugitive) and his professional duty to protect the country. That said, since Jack Bauer saved his life in s4 when the President was about to lob a missile at him...and then Heller pays him back by putting him and his daughter in danger.

Benjamin Bratt and Tate Donovan are joining.

So it looks like Heller, Audrey and Chloe are the only returning characters...that's actually kinda disappointing. I would have liked Aaron, Novick, Tony (because he's such an important foil to Jack...they have essentially had the same life experiences)...and MAYBE Logan?

The Tony thing could be good.

IF...the show can get away from the whole "A car bomb goes off at 2 AM, but wait! That's just the first, smaller issue that was easily solved...oh wait, there's a mole inside CTU or another high level of government" plot line that made the series so stale, it could be good. I'm sure I wasn't the only person to notice it was always a middle eastern organization.

I'm interested to see how the whole "skips forward" thing works out.

Even I, as a Middle Easterner-American, do not think "it was always a Middle Eastern organization".

    Season 1: Eastern European (Balkans).
Season 2: Middle East (so 1 for you)
Season 3: Mexican and disgruntled British MI-6 agent
Season 4: Middle East (so 2 for you)
    Season 5: Caucuses
Season 6: Middle East (so 3 for you)
    Season 7: Africa
Season 8: Middle East (so 4 for you...but positive this time since they were trying to make peace)

    So 4 out of 8 (ie. 50%).

Which of the seasons do we pretend didn't happen? I've forgotten at this point.

Season 6. :) It was IMO the worst season and Audrey was comatose. And now she's all good.

Hey Kryptonite...Jack's "kryptonite" is Kim Bauer. I agree with your "rehashed plot lines". That was a common critic on the 24 message board. Season 4 was the season that suffered the most from the "first smaller issue" and onto the next issue. The 4th season as like 24 short movies...with the same villain.

If Jack Bauer was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and Nina Meyers, and he had a gun with 2 bullets, he’d shoot Nina....... twice

This has probably already been covered, but is it not odd they are bringing back the show whilst ignoring the real-time concept which made it famous?

They aren't ignoring the real-time concept.... so basically it will still cover the events of a single day with each episode corresponding to an hour but there will be jumps forward in time between certain episodes.

Isn't that more or less ignoring the core concept? I associate 24 with 24 one hour episodes and the action taking place in real time (more or less).

Well that would require them doing 24 episodes and I think they are trying for a test run here. Each episode will take place in real time still though... and if the show is successful, they say there can be future seasons which would be 24 one hour episodes that we are used to.

I've read where they've also seen how successful limited run series have been and figure why pad the show out. They're better off just coming up with a solid 12-hours.
