about Villrreal C.F

Villarreal Club de Fútbol, usually abbreviated to Villarreal, is a Spanish Primera División football club based in Villarreal, a small town in the province of Castellón. The team plays at the 25,000-seat Madrigal stadium.

The club was founded in 1923 and played in regional leagues until the Spanish Civil War, during which Spanish football went into a hiatus. After the war, the club played in various regional leagues as well as the Third Division until the 1970/71 season, when Villarreal first played in the Segunda División for two consecutive seasons, at the end of which the club was relegated to the Third Division once again. After playing in the Segunda División B for a few seasons in the late 80s, Villarreal managed to solidify themselves as a Segunda División club starting with the 1992/93 season.

The team is nicknamed El Submarino Amarillo (the Yellow Submarine) because of their yellow strip. The mascot (named Groguet, "Little Yellow") is a figure with a submarine head.In 2008, the shirt sponsor is "Aeroport Castello" (airport).

A win against Villareal would be lovley, we've destroyed the other top 3 teams and the Submarines have to be sunk aswell. Domination is the word.

I want payback against Villareal, after they beat us twice in La Liga last season.

Of course I'll settle for a draw in this one. Ending the hardest stage of la liga with 10 points out of 12 would be just fine.
Then again, ending it 12 for 12 would be incredible! :D

We're on such a f*cking roll right now that we have to go 12/12 :D

We'll be running away with La Liga if we get all 3 points and LPB and Valencia draw. I could live with Valencia winning though :p

I stare at the GD of 37 and it's hard to fathom what that number actually means.......it's crayzay.

They're going for the jugular this weekend....they need to spiritually and mentally kill the competition's will to fight back for La Liga before the break and not give them a glimmer of hope. They need to fundamentally change the thinking from "Let's win La Liga" to "Uhhhh, let's shoot for a Champions League spot, yes?"

IMO, a win will do that. A draw, not so much. A loss would really suck.

Just looking at those stats that VEB posts for every match thread (great work btw) it's hard to fathom how we can lose. I mean, 86% away win percentage? An away goal every 35 mins. on average? Yeesh. We are such f'n studs right now.

They haven't won at home in almost 2 months. How are they even still in the running?

    Let's crush 'em.

Villareal are down right now, this should be a win. Do we want Valencia to lose to the LPB in hopes of increasing the lead, or do we want the LPB to lose no matter what? Answer: who cares what happens to those clowns, let's just win.

Sounds like you're giving us a good old PEP talk. That's the second time this season I've used that wack joke. You're welcome. However, what you said does hold weight, we control our own destiny, we don't have to depend on anyone else.

All I know is that I'm cautious when we play Villareal. Out of curiosity, how is Altidore doing?

He had his first goal a month or so ago, but haven't heard much about him since.

he's cracked the starting line up a couple times since scoring his first goal (within the first minute of coming off the bench, might I add....I think he set a La Liga record)

I'm honestly surprised he's gotten legit minutes with Villareal...they're a solid team in arguably the best league in the world. I hope he gets to play vs. Barcelona. I'll go so far as to say I hope he scores....as long as it has no effect on the final outcome (see: Barcelona victory).

    Puyol, with dental abscess

According to an announcement made by the club Medical Services, caveman did not train because he has an abscess in his teeth. The captain is taking antibiotics and anti-inflammatory pills, but in principle he should be able to train again as normal on Wednesday.

    Márquez with pulled hamstring

Márquez, meanwhile, has pulled a hamstring in his left leg. he has been undergoing water therapy and the way things develop will determine when he is able to return to training and whether or not he will be available for the weekend game in Villarreal.

    Touré with migraine

Yaya was also absent, having suffered an acute migraine, for which he is taking medication and has been ordered to rest. It is still not clear whether the Ivorian will be back for training on Wednesday.

Pragmatically we should be rooting for LPB to win. Be we are talking about our eternal rivals here. I would be happy with almost any result, but secretly elated if they were to lose again. Hopefully that would make them shut up with the "were were so valiant at the Camp Nou" bullshit.

If LPB were to lose to Valencia, then Deportivo would have the opportunity to sent them to 7th place :D

I have to admit, this season's home jersey has grown on me quite a bit. I don't suppose our current form and league domination has anything to do with that :p

I miss Eto'os mane :( When he's got the afro then he is in Lion stage, with his shaved head he is a Puma, both lethal. Watch out!

LOL. Reminds me of what Ben Wallace said during the Pistons' championship run, he has the fulll picked out afro for home games as it makes him look more intimidating, but on the road he has it braided so he can be more aerodynamic. :p

Touré , Puyol and Márquez all trained normally (without feeling any pain) with the squad today and are expected to be in the squad list against Villarreal.
