AVB is a rich n00b cake though. with all these 1 year terminations of his fat contracts he is raking it in like mad
It seems that his age and lack of playing career, combined with success in Portugal aped Mourinho so much, that many just assumed AVB was an embryonic version of him.
It seems to me that AVB being fairly young, kind of yuppyish and from Portugal made the London press not like him. He's never stayed at a team long enough to see how his management would work out imo.....Chelsea/Tottenham didn't tank in the standings ala Utd under Moyes, but the squeals from the press made you think that he was murdering helpless puppies during halftime. As I said, the next coach will need to be able to withstand being AVB'd. Plus maybe a few knives coming out from inside the club. Not for a newbie.
I would have preferred AVB to Moyes, at least he knows the style of football he wants to play and has won something as an underdog. If you think judging a manager's career managing Chelsea and Tottenham (or even Zenit for that matter) you are kidding yourself.
No that Porto side wasn't an underdog by any means...They had the likes of Moutinho,Rodriguez,Hulk, Falcao in that squad and were pretty strong and formidable....
They weren't favorites in the start of the tournament, were they?
Does that make one an underdog? They were one of the stronger squads in it.
Does that make one an underdog? They were one of the stronger squads in it.
Yeah but considering their expectations in the beginning of the season he exceeded those expectations with a European cup win and a league win. Regardless, would I prefer him to Moyes? yes I do.
Think AVB has found his level with a nice quiet Russian team thats consistently in Europe. They showed faith in Spaletti for a while, so they will be patient if a project is in place. That said, maybe next month we will see Simeone or Klopp come to OT for a little tryout.
Years ago Totti came back from a long injury lay off and played as a false 9... this was well before it was fashionable and he was devastatingly good. The later stuff may not be false 9, but the way Totti played when Roma first tried that was exquisite and definitely false9ish.
Wait to you see what's planned on Saturday for Villa. It will be epic, poor Dave will want to jump in a big hole
You've never heard of the long time partnership between Aston Villa and AS Roma fans Vince? They're practically sister clubs!
