Calls up 42 players for an evaluation

    Already has 18 on lock

What a waste of everyone's time

Its not like they are digging ditches. They get paid by the FIGC (probably pretty well) as well as their clubs to go and see lovely Coverciano, take a physical and it only takes a few hours by train to get there.

Still 42 players to decide 5 remaining spots is excessive.

Maybe but they are getting paid for doing nothing. Considering many people in Italy make 1000 Euros a month, they are probably going to receive more than most people make in a year. I have real no sympathy for these guys.

Prandelli: “Two years ago I called Verratti and nobody knew who he was, now everyone is talking about Verratti."

I've heard this before and I don't get it...many knew who Verratti was. Him, Insigne and Immobile made headlines for Pescara in Serie B.

Is Cesare that behind that he figured he discovered a gem himself?

Maybe because Veratti was in Serie B?

These are the 18 players who are definitely going to Brazil according to Sky Italia's Alessandro Alciato:

    http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/altr...-del-mondiale-ci-sono-romulo-e-cassano-546922

Got them all right in my prediction except De Sciglio. Glad to see Marchisio isn't there.

Rossi and Maggio will also be part of the team provided they're fit.

Third GK is still undecided (wouldn't surprise me if Prandelli goes with experience and reliability and picks a veteran), and then I guess it's between Criscito and Pasqual for the left back position, Destro and Immobile for the last forward position (I would instead bring and additional 'creative' forward such as El Shaarawy, Insigne or Alino 'the legend' Diamanti) and Astori and Ranocchia for the last CB spot. Or maybe they both stay home and Prandelli picks an additional central midfielder between Parolo, Marchisio, Poli, Bonaventura and Florenzi (I personally hope Bonaventura is selected). Verratti, from what I hear, is out (bad decision but I must admit that I wasn't really impressed by his recent CL performances).

My first reaction - holy shit.

If we are to assume that Prandlli will take 5 forwards then Rossi, Immobile and Destro are battling it out for one spot. The hierarchy is in that order.

Guys it is entirely possible that both Immobile and Destro will not be going to the World Cup because of Gilardino

Mosciolivo and Thiago Morta - shaking my head.

@mattteo can you explain to me how Romulo has Italian heritage in order to prevent my Dad from throwing a bowling ball through the television?

Does Rossi really have a chance at this point? I mean he has been injured for so long and Prandelli will trust an injured player?

If he's fit and gets to play at least one game before the season is over Rossi will go to Brazil 100%.

I actually think that in the end he'll be called up even if he can't play the first game or two.

    Funiculi Funicula.

Wait that article you had only 17 players.

@Scorp We still might see one out of the Capocannoniere and the guy who averages more than a goal a game. But only one of them.
