Interesting article from Haaretz Mighty Israel and its quest to quash Palestinian popular protest The military has delegated its best soldiers, investigators and judges to safeguarding Israel against the organizer of Nabi Saleh's popular uprising. We met several times in the past two weeks - in Ramallah, not in Nabi Saleh. Facing the suppression of that village's weekly demonstrations is a challenge best reserved for the experienced. Huge quantities of tear gas, rubber-coated bullets flying between buildings, gas canisters with (illegally ) extended ranges, beatings, shovings and home invasions - this is what the Israel Defense Forces employs against the small village of 500. Since the demonstrations began in 2009, 155 of the residents have been injured, 40 percent of whom are children. Thirty-five houses have been damaged in the process of dispersing demonstrations, and seven caught fire.
Thank you facebook for promoting VIOLENCE which will leave many dead, potentially. Just check thier third intifada page... What I don't get is intifada has done more to hurt Palestinians and their homeland quest than Israel. All it does is let's Palestinian violence appetite out, nothing else.
Bibi Travelgate? http://www.haaretz.com/print-editio...lthy-acquaintances-or-israeli-public-1.352466 http://www.jpost.com/NationalNews/Article.aspx?ID=214301&R=R1
Palestine could be recognized by the UN as a full member by September... http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/03/world/middleeast/03mideast.html?pagewanted=2&hp
well, let's see - no borders, no peace agreement, hamas still in control of gaza, 250K Israelis living in WB, constant rocket attacks from Hamas, no unity government in PA territories - just to name a few. So what good does it do for UN to recognize THIS?
Read the article. Theyre probably going to recognize east jerusalem as part of Palestine and Israel as occupiers.
Which map have you looked at? If Palestine doesn't have borders, then israel doesn't either. In case you haven't noticed, they share a border.
probably? Divide Jerusalem? Only UN can come up with this bright idea. The one that says Israel on it, they're pretty common in most parts of the world. Do you need a link?
Yes, only the majority of countries in the world can up with such a bright idea for a solution that isn't based on Israel getting everything it wants.
Huh? Am I missing something here, Israel has been getting everything it wants all these years? Bed of roses for sure. And if international community says so, who could possibly question their good intentions.
I do believe that Israel is America's strongest/most critical ally in the Middle East at this point in time and will likely continue to be as it has since its refounding. BUT, what I'm curious is basic politics. From what I have seen of American public opinion polls, 60%ish support the Israelis and 20% support the Palestiniians and I guess 20% are no opinion/even. Yet when bills concerning the I-P conflict are introduced into the US Congress, roughly 100% of US Senators take a strong pro-Israel stance and 99% of Represenatives take a strong pro-Israel stance.
This is the first search on google for a world map: http://www.mapsofworld.com/asia-political-map.htm And I see Israel on it. Now, many maps include Gaza and West Bank as well, but we all know West Bank will change as Israel will retain parts of it as those "settlements" are way to big to do anything about UNLESS, those Arabs currently living in Israel would move out into WB and those Israelis leaving in WB move into Israel proper. Well, Palestinians get overwhelming MAJORITY of international, UN, support and of course their "real" allies like Iran and the rest of their brethren in the oil rich Arab world.
Why? all they have gotten us is pissed off muslim and dead americans fighting there wars for them. Not to mention the USS Liberty attack and Johnathan pollard.
