Jonatha Fanas is probably the best dominican foward in a long time. He is fast and intelligent. He is currently playing for a team in Trinidad & Tobago. I think the Islanders should take a look at Fana.

The problem is PR Islanders has very good foward in their two starters in englishman Taiwo Atieno and haitian int. Fabriece Noel. Now he can probably compete with the other fowards but geting in the starting two is gona be hard.

He has scored 7 goals so far. They should keep him for next year or he should move to Major league soccer.

Fana just scored for Dom. Rep. in its first leg against Anguilla, making it 2-0 in the 42'. It's his sixth goal in eight NT caps. The second leg is Sunday (both legs are in D.R., today's D.R.'s "away" game)

When he was 16 or 17 he played in a international soccer tournament in Puerto Plata and even a blind man could see that he would bring it far

The fact Faña is dominican does not help him get a good contract. He is as good as any regular south american player, but D.R is known for baseball no soccer. So this makes it harder for Faña. He should be in Major League Soccer instead of a second division team or in Mexico and even Europe.

You have a very good point with that

In the Dom Rep we have got scouts from the Yankees and the Red Sox and the Marlins etc... looking for talent

Not from Red Bull, nor the Galaxy nor the Sounders

This is nice, but exactly which club is interested in Fana?

Cito "Muchos clubes históricos de España y Portugal se interesaron luego de ver los informes de Jose María, quien llevaba seis meses siguiendo los movimientos del dominicano e informando a diversos clubes de prestigio"

It does not say which clubs exactly, but its implied:D the "historical clubs in Portugal and Spain" are Sporting Liboa, Benfica, El Barcelona, Real Madrid just to name a few. I guess he is on their radar and we should hear more news as the information or possible offers come into place.

To be honest it's probably a Segunda club.

This is great for NASL. I think they need to keep finding players like this to promote them to higher leagues. MLS fails miserably, IMO, in this respect. Buena suerte al Sr. Faña.

A few other clubs in Spain that might need/want a striker (based on goal totals/striker depth) that also can be said to be historic.

    Currently in La Liga:
1.Real Zarazoga- All three top scorers (midfielders) all gone. 16th in scoring with 40 goals.

2.Sporting Gijon- top scorer Diego Gimenez, midfielder with 9 goals, is now in Getafe. Top scoring striker is David Barral with 5 goals. Team total goals for 10-11 season was 2nd lowest (35)

3.Mallorca- Lose top scorer, Pierre Webo, forward who had 11 goals. Two young strikers with a combined 9 goals. 15th in scoring with 41 goals.

I've seemed this kid play, Fañas and I can tell you that he is better than many current MLS forwards. I'm shocked not MLS clubs have attempted to sign him. Only New York Red Bulls (as far as I know ) did show some interest in Faña a couple of years ago, but that was it.

Re: Islanders should get dominican republic DEFENDER CESAR ''DANKO'' GARCIA

It is just my humble opinion of course, but it is time for the Islanders FO to take a look at 18 year old dominican defender Cesar Garcia

He played very well for the MNT at El Salvador and against Suriname
