    Iraq National Team: Next Generation

We all know that our FA disbanded our National team after the Loss against Qatar in the WCQ2010, our FA decided to make a new National team from our local league, and by this thread we will discuss about who deserve to represent our National team in the Gulf Cup and the Confederations Cup.

Here are some players in my mind

Ibrahim Kamil from Air Force (Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya)
Young and very talented player, he reminds me of Nashat Akram.

    Younis Shakor from Kirkuk FC
If ask why Kirkuk in the Elite stage? Then Younis Shakor is the answer

    Hussam Saeed from Al-Zawra
He was the Primary Stage top scorer with Al-Bareed and then he moved to Al-Zawra in the Elite Stage, he is considered one of the best striker in the Iraqi League.

    As'aad Abdul-Nabi from Electric Club (Al-Kahrabaa)
Current Iraq Super League top scorer, TBH I never saw him playing but if he is the Top scorer then he maybe good.

Nice thread, did the guy above score that wee chip against Al Najaf when Al zawraa won away from home?

That was a sweet finish :D

    Nice!

I was well impressed with that finish, though I admit I haven't been able to see much more.

We don't get to see the league here in Europe. We should start a league thread and an Iraqi goals thread soon too...

I think we need to forget about him. yes we won the Asian Cup but that was because our players played with heart and passion. Remember in West Asia? or the friendly matches?

I think we need to bring a better coach than Vieira.

Meh, Viera did a great thing but I think we need a coach with consistency, I don't think Viera provides us with that.

There are rumors in our newspapers that Red Star is interested in Iraqi player Younis Mahmoud. Can somebody tell me something more about him? I know that he was great in AFC.

Younis has been linked with quite a few European clubs in the last year or two. He is our national team captain (or was until the team was disbanded) and he is a very good goalscorer (top goalscorer in Asian Cup) when on top of his game, however recently his performances for the national team have been disappointing mainly due to injuries and problems off the field.

Red star is a very decent side and it would be good to see him play there. What was mentioned in the rumours?

At first we were interested in Ghana striker Tagoe who also plays in Saudi Arabia, but that transfer has fallen through and now we have focused on Mahmoud. We desperately need a good striker. Because our ambitions for this season are great. We have brought famous Italian/ Czech coach Zdenek Zeman who likes attacking 4-3-3 formation. I think that in our team Mahmoud could progress a lot and it could be a springboard for him. A lot of our ex players play in top and wealthiest European teams now.

    Younis and Red Star..interesting

    Why?:D
