I get "injured" too during mid-week games that are broadcast in the afternoon and must convalesce down at the bar. My bosses are never the wiser.

Cabaye and Sissoko impressed me a lot against Chelsea a few days ago. Matuidi has been playing very well alongside top class players at PSG. Let`s see what our hyped up midfielders can do against them.

Both Podolski (cold) and Khedira (groin strain) are apparently game time decisions, according to kicker.

Exciting to see Guendogan start for the national team and against a very good side.

That is a positive but I was hoping for tactical experimentation.

    Same old Loew.

Hoewedes at LB? Yikes. I don't see why Loew couldn't simply move Lahm to the left and field Bender as RB.

I'm surprised you continue to set yourself up for disappointment. It's clear after 6 years of Loew that he will not experiment, and only makes changes to the line-up when forced to do so by injuries.

You're right. I'm blindly optimistic. I thought after EURO 2012 he began to notice the problem and after Netherlands, I thought he would maybe try. It's a betrayal to the fans really, especially with his misguided distinction between success and aesthetics. He seems to be waiting for whatever Guardiola will bring and then copy it. Only hope. He doesn't have a footballing brain, simple as that.

Exactly. Experimenter is his second name.

That seems to be par for the course when it comes to Loew. He basically has copied the tactics employed by Bayern since LvG took over. Hell even the switch to the 4-5-1 was a result of Ballack taking over the locker-room during EM2008, just like he did prior to WM2006 when he insisted on playing a deeper more defensive role. I'd be surprised if he doesn't follow the changes that Pep makes at Bayern.

Perhaps we will see a striker-less formation in the second half since Gomez is the only CF in the match-day squad.
