More than likely I see the league splitting the conferences into divisions much like every other sport in the United States.
Looks like Yankees FC will be playing in an empty Yankee stadium for a few years. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/15/s...y-at-yankee-stadium-for-three-years.html?_r=0
"Baseball is clearly the #1 priority" ^^That statement right there is an issue for me. MLS wants all teams to have new stadiums, special requirements etc. But NYC gets a second (or first however you look at it) with no new stadium in the works. Plus you have half the ownership using it as farm system (MCFC using NYC2 and Melborne Heart) and an ownership group having baseball a number one priority (Yankees). People were up in arms about the MLS rules/regulations for the season coming out.... i couldnt give a flying f___. I have more of an issue with all the expansion rules and backdoors, well more expansion to begin with. Just going to water down the teams.
Personally my issue is how Orlando and other cities (Philadelphia included) had to have fan support, ownership with money, and a SSS before being allowed in. NYCFC has one of those and its all "How can we help you sir?" I'm hoping we're not trading one Chivas USA owner for another.
What's going to happen when MLB wants to play a playoff game or a World Series game on the day of a NYCFC home game? Will NYCFC have "flex scheduling" in the fall? If not, you'll never hear the end of it: "This pitcher was able to come back and pitch on three days' rest due to the extra day off as a result of the soccer game that was played here yesterday. But for that soccer game, we would be seeing that rookie pitcher with no playoff experience. . ."
words cannot express how hilarious it will be when they give up and their only option is to share Red Bull Arena.
Except ManCity and Yankees probably have spent more on NYCFC already than Chivas Guadalajara spent on Chivas USA in the last 10 years. They are paying $10 million for a TEMP training facility. $10 million!
Sounders close to forming their own USL Pro team for 2015. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...re-close-forming-their-own-usl-pro-squad-2015 You know who'd be good to coach the Union's USL Pro team, if it ever were to happen? John Hackworth.
Or maybe we should put Jim Curtin in charge of the Mythical Union II, Move Hackworth into the FO with the title of Director of Soccer Operations / Technical Director. Hackworth can then concentrate on player acquisitions, youth development, Academy stuff, etc. Then Promote either Rob V or Mike Sorber to Team Manager.
Why would we want Hack as the TD? This is the guy who thinks Hoppe is an impact player, Wheeler is better than Berry, and that Riberio needs to be converted to CB. Under him, Pfeff, Hernandez, McLaughlin, Martinez, Torres, and Ribs can't/couldn't get minutes to save their lives. The only player you can claim he developed was Leo. I don't want Hack within a mile of youth development or player acquisition. He'd probably just trade for a bunch of midfielders he could convert into defenders.
I know you did. But once you threw his name out as a candidate, you lost me. Sorber, maybe. As a head coach? Not at all.
