I'm confused. Didn't a bunch of you guys go to MLS games in other cities wearing Union colors well before 2010?

Not that I wish for this scenario, but it would be funny for this guy if this was the season they finally won the MLS Cup.

Will he have it removed and replaced with a Cosmos tattoo when that team finally returns to MLS?
Too late, hate train already left the station.

MLS Cup 2007 ... but then again, there were TFC fans there as well, not just Revs/Dynamo.
    RNBY game(s).

So, to answer your question, yeah.

Union fans making fun of a person who supports a team before they exist.

    Classic.

So, it's like the former-DCU fans who are now hardcore Union supporters?

If you were a hardcore, card carrying screaming eagle or barra brava, and jumped to the union after they were formed, you are a fraud. I only root based on geography (which i feel is the only reasonable was to be a fan of any team, but thats another story) so i would never be in that pickle. No philly team, no alliegance to any team in the league. Much like the epl, i was a watcher of mls, but no supporter of any team in particular.

Hi, my name is Amscray and I'm a former DC United fan. I've lived in Northern VA for almost ten years now and am a former half-season ticket holder. I rooted for Fred before it was cool. Best goal I've ever seen in person was a Ben Olsen blast vs. NJPC. Then, while attending the MLS Cup at lovely RFK Stadium the same year, I saw some loud assholes from my hometown of Philly marching into the stadium and making alot of noise for a team that didn't exist quite yet. It was my first experience meeting the Sons of Ben.

Shortly thereafter, my DC United hat mysteriously vanished. I was a convert that day.

So, internet gatekeepers, is my Union fan card still valid? ;)

I recall meeting you in person but I don't recall your soccer tattoos. Please identify them with specificity and provide the dates for each before any of us can make a ruling.

my ruling is that you are free to root for the union , since you are originally from here. However, i deem you fugazi for bailing on a team.

your card is still valid, but its not laminated, to facilitate easy destruction . Your loyalty will always be in question based on past deceptions. once a cheater....

Been awhile since we've had a "true fan" debate. Glad to see they haven't gone the way of the Miami Fusion

haha i dont consider anyone more or less of a true fan. I just subscribe to the "no jumping teams" school of thought.

I can't decide if that bothers me more than being a fan of a "player" and supporting whatever team said player goes to. Cough*Freddy Adu*cough.

    Both are pretty awful.

If you are not sure how many you have, there has to be a good story behind them.

It's actually the opposite, there isn't much deep thought behind most. Like the Asian woman holding the soapy sponge with the banner that says "washee washee"
