The embedded video in the article has been taken down but it's still easy to find on YouTube. Unbelievably horrible, He deserves a lengthy suspension for that.

Henry goes down with nobody around with a potential hamstring injury. There goes the Pink Cow's offense. Though I have to admit it is a little bit of a shame that a class player like Henry could be potentially out for a while.

Confirmed: Strained hamstring. Nothing tore. How long is the recovery time for that if any?

As long as it keeps him out through May 13th.

The league is going to make him play. May 5th is the only Galaxy/Red Bulls matchup of the season. Imagine having the game WITHOUT Henry & Rafa (******** him). During the FC Dallas/Galaxy match, the electric boards said "Next Home Game, Thierry Henry and the NY Red Bulls, May 5th". & I want him to come back because he's my leader on my fantasy team.

The difference between a good fantasy team and a great fantasy team this year will be the teams that transfer Henry this week and the teams that don't. You can't have a guy that expensive on your bench and expect to win.

Apparently the Cosmos have a plan to introduce Promotion/Relegation into American Soccer. After winning NASL for two years and selling out their stadium, MLS will let them pay to promote into MLS and the lowest ranked MLS team will get some of the money and be relegated to NASL.

Pure speculation, but we will see.

I did read a tweet earlier that Dan Courtmanche spoke about MLS putting in some bid to purchase outright all the leagues below MLS ... USL-Pro, NASL, etc. Will have to see if I can find it, and get my salt shaker to go with it.

I hope the franchise fails. I truly hate everything the Borough Boys represent. You have to respect that the Vikings Army, ESC, & etc. have to put up with soccer fans that won't support a team just because they play in Jersey. The only time the Cosmos had fans is when they played at Giants Stadium in Jersey!

The tweet was just for the two USL divisions (USL PDL and USL Pro). So Double-A and Single-A soccer. Not Triple-A.

"These guys think they have a good fan base, but it's nowhere close."

Wow, I know the players are supposed to stroke the egos of their own supporters, but could Peterson have been any more of a douche?

Love love love Williams blowing off Espinoza ...

So wait, they finally average over 18k in attendance this year and he thinks they have a good fan base? This is only our 3rd year in and every year we have averaged over 18k, I must be missing something as to a fan base. Isn't it better to have more people show up? Now I know they just got their own SSS but they were playing in Arrowhead stadium so capacity would not be an issue, so why does their attendance come in lower? Before last year (which was still lower than us) they only got over 15k once, and they didn't even get over 10k the year they won the cup (2000).

Edit - My bad, they weren't always in Arrowhead, for three years there were in a baseball stadium that only held 11k or so for soccer.

Maybe when he said "these guys" he was meaning his team mates and/or the SKC front office. And he didn't complete his statement, which should've said "... it's nowhere close to what Philly bring to each and every game."

    :p

It's a shame, but it's true. There will be far more people at the Villa game to see the reserves play in a meaningless game than saw the Union first team play SKC on Wednesday.

Would STHs be willing to pay in advance for three extra games rather than one? If so, the Union could include the USOC as extra games. In the event that there are not three extra games (this year there were four: Schalke, Rochester, HCI, SKC), STHs could get a credit towards the following season or the excess funds could be loaded onto the STH cards for use at the team store or at the concession stands.

Alternatively, the team could automatically bill STHs for the USOC games and make it incumbent upon the STH to opt out of the game rather than opt in.

While some may complain about such measures, they ultimately would benefit the team and fill up the stadium for meaningful games.

Some MLS teams, such as RSL and SKC included the USOC games as part of the STH package as an extra game, and the STH's basically got in for "free" or at a very discounted rate. I like your idea of having the potential USOC matches as part of the STH package. They could charge an extra game, and designate it Game B or something. Like they do for the Summer Friendly, since the Opponent is almost always determined a few months after the season starts.

One would have thought that we could have gotten at least 10K for a semi-final match for a major tournament..............then again I don't recall seeing any commercials for it. I know it was mentioned on TV show, and also on DNL, but it was largely only advertised via email, social networking (the value, reach, and effectiveness of this is questionable at best), and the team website. Also.......you'd think that the DNL crew would be more positive towards a local team that out draws the 76ers.............. and is broadcasted on their network. Although you could say the same thing about ESPN, and how some Sportscenter anchors treat MLS.

Point is, is that a better effort from the FO could have resulted in a better turnout for a match that they had to PAY MONEY in order to host it.

Have people pay for the meaningless friendlies. And include USOC matches in the STH package. Although the way that tournament is set up it's hard to predict if your team will actually ever host a match.
