How bad in your opinion? I think the next 8 matches are key and this doesn't help. Is Hertha that bad or will they rally at home with a coaching change?
The club says two to three weeks. Bender was only out one week. I'd expect the worst. We should be all right. Kagawa will probably miss three matches at the most. We should be OK against Hertha, Hannover and Mainz without him. Check out the match preview......
I only checked the BVB site and found that he "trained with the ball" and worked up a sweat. In another article they made reference to it being unclear if he would be ready for a WQ qualifier with Japan for March 1st. My guess is he was at practice and did some very light training. I don't think he will be cleared to play this Saturday.
It doesn't matter whether Kagawa will be cleared to play this Saturday. We play on Sunday. And that extra day could very well work in Kagawa's favor. Sven Bender suffered the same type of injury, was ruled out for two to three weeks and actually missed one week. Klopp did not rule Kagawa out for Sunday's match. Until Klopp does so, there's a very real chance Kagawa could indeed play.
Lol. I keep hoping I can will the game to be moved a day earlier. Does the Bundesliga require teams to submit reports of who is eligible to play by a certain day and time before the match or is that left up to the teams? If they do require it; is it posted on the Bundesliga website?
I don't think so. The Bundesliga is not the NFL. However, I believe the clubs do have to submit an official match-day roster, to include starting lineup, a number of hours before each match.
Thanks. It looks like about 1 hour before the match starts they are generally posted. Don't know if that is required or not. I am somewhat surprised they don't require more information to be shared on injuries.
I believe it is. Why are you surprised? The only major league in any sport I know where that is required is the NFL. And that's more because of gambling and fantasy sports more than anything......
Probably, just ingrained habit from the NFL. Although as a fan it is nice to know who is ready to go for your team. Reduces the worry as good or bad news is released at a set time. Finally, I like the open disclosure by both sides on who is fit to play. Just think it potentially reduces the gamesmanship.
You don't see a lot of "gamesmanship" roster-wise in European football (soccer). Teams are good at ruling guys out when they truly can't go. You won't see clubs claim a player is going to be out all week just to purposely spring him on the opponents at the final minute. What they will do is what BVB is doing with Kagawa. They won't say he's "fit" or rule him out until they truly know.
Lewandowski may not play at all (or see very limited play) in Poland's friendly against Portugal tomorrow. He's having an MRI today to determine status, but evidently Zorc has now asked Smuda not to play Robert. It's a pulled thigh muscle or something like that...
yup....i hope he does not play... he needs to rest...he has been a work horse this season as he has been featured in every BL and CL game this season
Totally agree. And you know, I hadn't even thought about his appearing in every match. Just so used to seeing him out there. OUT-F#CKING-STANDING!!
Final, official decision is that Lewandowski will not play today http://www.pzpn.pl/index.php/Reprez...ktualnosci/Lewandowski-nie-zagra-z-Portugalia . Since pulled thigh muscles are usually caused by strain and stress, I think he should sit out the next BL matchday as well. I know he is essential to BVB, but at the same time I don't want to see him unable to play for Poland at the Euros.
We've got Barrios. If we need to sit Lewandowski, we will. Lewandowski has been FREAKIN' AWESOME since the Augsburg victory. But he isn't indispensible.
They're still not rushing him. I think if we needed him to play, he could, but they don't think it is "necessary" yet. Don't be surprised if he's on the roster for the Bremen match though.......
Klopp played him too much like Wenger did with Wilshere. They are too young and should not start every game.
According to RevierSport, Chris Löwe and Sven Bender missed training today with flu-like symptoms. Shinji Kagawa was taken to a hospital for a knee issue, but an MRI revealed only some irritation. Maybe it was some of the "irritation" left over from Hosogai kicking his ass on Saturday! LOL!! Seriously, it is good to know Kagawa should be OK. Lucas Barrios missed training due to a cold, Felipe Santana with muscular issues......
F#CK!!! According to the article linked here, Leo Bittencourt suffered a slight knee ligament tear in training with Germany U-19. He'll miss the U-19 European Championship Qualification. However, if everything goes as it normally does, Bittencourt should be ready for BVB's summer training starting on July 4th. Zorc also said Bittencourt will go on vacation and then report the the Klaus Eder clinic in Donaustauf for rehab on June 4th.
It is not too bad. It is not like he is going to miss 6 months like Didavi and Lasogga (or Kittel and Aycicek already did this season).
Didn't I write that he should be ready for BVB's summer training camp. I reacted the way I did because I don't want to see any of our players injured at all. And especially not a f#cking knee. No matter how "minor........ "
Sven Bender is going to miss about four weeks as he is scheduled to undergo hernia surgery on Monday. Bender will miss Sunday's Super Cup match and the start of the Bundesliga season. Sebastian Kehl will also miss the Super Cup match with toe inflammation.
