I am quite pleased with the draw. Indonesia is in Group E with Iran, Bahrain, Qatar. It is way better than facing South Korea or China. I was hoping for Kuwait instead of Qatar but Qatar is ok. It's difficult to get points from Iran but nothing is Impossible. Hopefully we can play good football and get the 2nd place in the group.

Anyway here is the highlight of Indonesia vs Turkmenistan

Probably it is confirmed against Malaysia but it's still not confirmed vs Australia. I think Indonesia should play friendly match against West Asian Team such as Jordania, Iraq, U.A.E, Lebanon rather than facing Malaysia. We need a stronger opponent.

I was reading elsewhere that these Indo-Dutch players : Jhon Van beukering, Sergio Van Dijk and Stefano lilipaly, are due to receive their passports by the end of the month and that these 2 Nigerians : Greg Nwokolo and Victor Ignonefo from the Indonesian Super League have have also made the list for naturalization. Is this true, and are all of them going to be chosen for the national team?

Pelefan, where are you reading this stuff man. I'm using the great journalistic: Wikipedia. Now that the P.I. is done, i'm going for Indonesia to make it through. If they get those players, I'm paying close attention. Goal.com said Beukering has already capped against Turkmenistan.

@pelefan hopefully those 3 indo dutch will get their indonesian passports by the end of this month. Once they get it, John van Beukering (JVB), Sergio Van Dijk (SVD) will join the national team tc for WCQ, while Stefano Lilipaly will join U-23 TC with Indo-German player Kim jeffrey kurniawan and 3 other Indo-Dutch players Ruben Wuarbanaran, Diego Michels, Joey Suk for the SEA GAMES but they will not automatically guaranteed a place in the squad, they have to compete with local players. And as for Greg Nwokolo and Victor Igbonefo their passports are still in process.

@racomando JVB wasn't part of Indonesia NT vs Turkmenistan, so I'm sure that Goal.com make a mistake. The list of players that still in process for naturalization are van beukering, van dijk, stefano lilipaly( these 3 almost done), Toni Cussel Lilipaly, victor igbonefo, greg nwokolo (these 3 still have to wait for months), Joey Suk, Ruben Wuarbanaran, Diego Michels (Passports ready, at the end of this week they will have their oath taken). Anyway, where are you from? Are you Indonesian?

Nope. Just an American in California with heritage that goes all over the place. I follow the Philippines closely, so that'll give you a clue.

I figured there needs to be at least one rep from South East Asia in the World Cup, and Indonesia has the best shot, at least to me. Even though Indonesia isn't even the best in SE Asia (Suzuki Cup...) I want to see them in the WC. As far as Thailand and Singapore...I won't say anything ;)

It is good to finally have all these indo european available for callup but I was surprised to find out that they are also naturalizating those Nigerian players. That might cause friction within the team.

That is why the PFF has an unofficial policy to only include players with a Filipino parent and this has proven to be a good decision, as they have been embraced by the public because of their Filipino roots.

This is important to us as we are still popularizing the sport of football in the country and we are trying to avoid a public relations backlash that might scare potential sponsors away.

We actually have a couple of excellent African players who are dominating our local leagues who have fulfilled the long residency requirement for citizenship,
who could have helped our team, but were not invited because of the above policy.

Anyway, hopefully all those reinforcements along with your strong locally based players will make you much more competitive against the tall and physical players from West Asia you will be facing. Good Luck to your WC qualifying campaign.

Awesome! I am also following closely Philippines Football. I never expected before that Philippines has so many players playing in Europe. As for Indonesia I hope Indonesia can reach the WC once again after in 1938.

    hi tato top,

I have added a weekly column entitled 'Fillpino Footballer's Abroad' from soccercentral.ph on all the Philippine's European based players who have played or committed to the national team, in the Philippines thread to make it easy for our readers to follow them. Thought it might be a good idea as well for your forum in regards to your Indonesian players based in Europe.

Hi pelefan, thanks a lot for helping me. Really appreciated. Anyway I heard that Indonesia U23 will be playing in a tournament in Hong kong against Macau, Hong kong, is it the same tournament that Philippines NT will participate?

I think you are referring to the Long Teng Cup, and that is in Taiwan. They started with Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines last year but I heard they are inviting Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries this year. It will be held in September I believe. The Philippines are sending a combination of U-23 and locally based men's national team players.

If Indonesia is invited to the long teng cup then it is a great news! I heard that Indonesia U23 will go to Hong Kong, China, Taiwan for friendly matches. This Indonesia U23 will be playing in SEA Games. A week ago they played a friendly against Indonesia Senior Team and earned a 1-1 draw. A very good young team but need more international friendly matches.
