I assume that's U19, because the full India team was beaten by the Windies today. Unfortunately, Seargeant's performance at the highest level continues to lag far behind his league numbers, as his innings was even shorter today than a week ago.
Seargeant went out with a new career ODI run mark today -- 34. (I'd gladly trade a little off his outstanding strike rate for longer innings, esp. considering the low rate Summers is producing right now.)
Seargeant finally performed to potential for the national side, posting his first half-century in leading the Windies with a total of 68 runs in Pakistan.
A century for Seargeant against Sri Lanka! The Windies are now trying to stave off a late collapse...
Seargeant ran off another century against South Africa and has moved up into the top five of the international batting rankings done at JFW.
Here are his new stats: Junior Mason - 20 yo, BT Rating=21,853 LH Batsman, LM Bowler, competent form, sublime (competent batting form, competent bowling form) A defensive player with strong leadership skills and worthless experience. Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: superb Batting: competent Concentration: proficient Bowling: feeble Consistency: competent Fielding: strong Where do I go again to put him in the "database"??
there should be a link in the WI sledging threads if he's from the WI but to be honest... I don't think he'd get anywhere near the NT.
The offsite Windies forum is: http://s14.invisionfree.com/West_Indies_Forum/ I think to get to it you need to register there, then BT-mail Asterix or maybe Nraider to tell him your username on the offsite forum (so that they know you're from the Windies). For the moment, Asterix seems to be in more for batsmen with some WK skill than WKs with some batting skill. I haven't seen what we're giving up for extras, but as long as they're not too high I'd guess that's the way to go, with only bowlers as specialists.
Does Sri Lanka have a database? My young gun is pretty close to being ready for the U-20 team with a BT Rating of 15,000 and getting five nets per week (will drop to four soon, though).
with the addition of a possible 6th bowler or an optional 6th bowler I think you will see even less specialists in NTs. In other words, many teams might look something like this.. Specialist Batsmen 1-4 AllRounders 5-7 Keeper 8 Bowlers 9, 10, 11 There will have to be atleast one Bowler who can bat in the all rounder section ie, someone who could make the team as a specialist bowler. if a team has 3 good allrounders then a specialist keeper is then more of an option. ps... its safe to say Theo Owens is the worst u19 player in the world. He's scored 77 runs in 6 innings as a specialist batsman... his only hope is that he'll one day be a good enough fielder to warrant a place in the team... I honestly don't know why he's not doing better, here are his stats. RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, strong form, invigorated (strong batting form, superb bowling form) A destructive player with woeful leadership skills and woeful experience. Part of the West Indies U19 squad Plays For: winningconnection Nationality: West Indies Age: 17 Years Old Battrick Rating: 24,417 Wages: £968 p/w Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: abysmal Batting: strong Concentration: superb Bowling: abysmal Consistency: respectable Fielding: respectable
the genius that is the Windies U19 manager decided to play 0 spinners on a dusty pitch (his own home ground) today against the SA U19. brilliant! he also shot down my idea, that Thomas Wild, a spinner i have, has a chance to be on the national team or U19 team. he's not outstanding by any means, but the Windies is short in the spinning category.
Well, I'm proud to say that my call-up, Simba Crowe, was held by Australia U-19 to four big fat sexy runs in today's game. Wait, not proud. That other thing. Ashamed and humiliated.
