    Assuming we keep enough players to compete with Tottenham, this may help us catch them.
    Tottenham loses £35m
    And we've been spared the pain of a 4th place Europa League consolation prize. That's gotta hurt! :eek:

    Joey Barton's been banned 12 matches and fined 75k for his epic meltdown vs. Citeh. So glad he's not our problem anymore.

    'Arry leaving Spurs. First it was all over twitter, then Sky Sports, now everyone claims they are breaking the news.
    ITK douchebags claiming Moyes will take over, now saying Martinez.

    He's getting a £3m pay off apparently, which after tax is £3m.

    Credit to Taylor and besty for that one.

    AC bagged himself a nice Euro goal with that header.

    Are we still using this thread for the new season?

    I was torn earlier today in considering which was more disturbing:

    1. Arsenal spent 60million in the transfer market and couldn't do more than a scoreless draw at home against the SMBs who spent nothing.

    2. I was actually thinking, "com'on Arsenal...score on these fools." at one point.

    Anyone think this might be the year Arsenal don't make the Champions' League?

    If either Arsenal or Chelsea don't make it, I'll be happy.

    He should do well considering his form in Spain. I'm stoked to see what Oba can do to Santos in the CCL.

    Speaking of the Sounders I'll go on record now and say Osvaldo Alonso would do a job in the Prem.

    Reading are pretty much doomed. Currently 7 points from safety with six to play (eight if Villa don't lose to Stoke, plus everyone in front of them except Villa and Stoke have at least one game in hand). If Wigan take points from QPR tomorrow that'll make the mountain even taller and probably finish QPR off too. Looking like 5-8 teams for one spot.

    Whale of a hit for the winner in the Stoke-Villa game. Pardon the Dutch (I think?).

    Cardiff are the first team promoted from the Championship. First season in the top flight since 1961-62. This also makes three Welsh teams in the Premier League: Cardiff, Swansea and Gareth Bale. (tip o' the cap to Twitter for that one)

    Citeh 1-0 Wigan
    West Ham 2-2 Manyoo (offside equalizer, go figure)

    Current standings

    11. West Ham 39 -9 (left: Wigan, @ City, Newcastle, @ Everton, Reading)
    12. Southampton 38 -7 (@ Swansea, WBA, @ Tottenham, @ Sunderland, Stoke)
    13. Newcastle 36 -17 (@ WBA, Liverpool, @ West Ham, @ QPR, Arsenal)
    14. Norwich 35 -21 (Reading, @ Stoke, Villa, WBA, @ City)
    15. Sunderland 34 -8 (Everton, @ Villa, Stoke, Southampton, @ Tottenham)
    16. Stoke 34 -13 (@ QPR, Norwich, @ Sunderland, Tottenham, @ Southampton)
    17. Aston Villa 34 -24 (@ Man Utd, Sunderland, @ Norwich, Chelsea, @ Wigan)
    =====================
    18. Wigan 31 -21 (@ West Ham, Tottenham, @ WBA, Swansea**, @ Arsenal, Villa)
    19. QPR 24 -25 (Stoke, @ Reading, Arsenal, Newcastle, @ Liverpool)
    20. Reading 24 -27 (@ Norwich, QPR, @ Fulham, City, @ West Ham)

    Swansea is Wigan's game in hand on everyone else.

    QPR and/or Reading could be relegated this weekend if they lose and Newcastle, Norwich, Sunderland, Stoke and Villa all win (Norwich and Stoke play Reading and QPR, respectively). Incidentally, they'd relegate each other with a draw next week anyway. So basically, it's all those other teams for one spot. I'd be most worried if I were a Villa fan but they seem up for the fight.

    Well that's gonna leave a mark,...the Scum were beaten like red heeded children of the damned by Villa 6-1. We're so fooked.

    Yeah. We manage to lose 0-6 and Villa wins 6-1 for a one week 11 goal differential reversal that leaves them ahead of us. Unbelievable.

    There's still some heat on us because we've been crap lately, but I think this shifts more pressure to Wigan than us. As of yesterday they had one team to aim at two points ahead of them. Now they have more targets but five points to chase down to get there.

    Wigan 2-3 Swansea. Massive result for us.

    Table with two to go:

    11. Stoke 41 -10 (Tottenham, @ Southampton)
    12. Fulham 40 -11 (@ Liverpool, Swansea)
    13. Aston Villa 40 -21 (Chelsea, @ Wigan)
    14. Southampton 39 -11 (@ Sunderland, Stoke)
    15. Sunderland 38 -12 (Southampton, @ Tottenham)
    16. Norwich 38 -22 (WBA, @ City)
    17. Newcastle 38 -23 (@ QPR, Arsenal)
    =====================
    18. Wigan 35 -23 (@ Arsenal, Villa)
    =====================
    R. Reading 28
    R. QPR 25

    Stoke are basically safe but not mathematically yet (could still go down on GD, in theory). Everyone else all the way down is still looking behind them. However, absolutely all the pressure is on Wigan because they basically need to beat Arsenal Tuesday to have much of a chance going into the last day.

    If NUFC, Sunderland and Norwich all get something from their games this weekend, Wigan are relegated with a loss on Tuesday. If we all win, they're relegated if they fail to win.

    The other thing to note... if (and its a big if) we beat QPR and Villa and Wigan lose to Chelsea and Arsenal respectively (which you would expect them to but you never know), then we would be safe.

    Even then if Wigan beat Arsenal and Villa lost to Chelsea we would be safe if we beat QPR, as they both couldn't pass us since they play each other on the final day. We'll know Villa's situation before kick-off as they play early on Saturday.

    In summation - beat QPR.

    Sir Rednose announces he will retire. In honor of him, the FA will add two minutes to the announced stoppage time at all grounds the rest of the season.
