Jacksonville is trying to have a team called FC Jax Destroyers. The problem is the Director of Operations Jay Golomb. He is not very organized and thinks the people from Baltimore Bays will do everything.

I look forward to the day when this doesn't sound like typical lower division soccer in the US.

Why not call them the Ninja-Zombie-Cool-Guys FC ?

Jacksonville could use a PDL team. There is enough college and youth teams from which to choose players. You could expect 500 -1000 attendance for matches.

However, the metality as you can see, is far from ready for prime time.

Yes, the Jacksonville Axemen. The pride of USA rugby league, such as it is.

A soccer and rugby league team sharing the same stadium in the USA is all kinds of (unintentional) funny. It would be like (northern) England and (eastern) Australia! Only with a running track.

Shoulda moved them to Teaneck, New Jersey. Teaneck Teamen!

Also, in regards to AC St. Louis:

Yes, terrible name. They might as well get some use out of their unique city name with something alliterative or similar: Jacksonville Jackals perhaps.

really... Two florida soccer teams is enough. Miami and Tampon Bay is all we need! Orlando AND Jacksonville is a big stretch.

Why? There are 18 million people in Florida. Plenty of fans and money to go around.

And this poor soccer fan living in south Jax just can't do a 4-6 hour one way trip to Tampa or Miami. A team in ORL or JAX would make me very happy.

I agree with this as a person just North of Jax. It would be great to have a PDL team in Jax where they choose from colleges and a bunch of club teams in the area. A 4d min drive compared to a 3 hour drive sounds good to me.

Read a few weeks ago that ''tea men'' was a pretty stupid name for the Jacksonville NASL team 30 years ago

LOL yeah sounds pretty weak, but it was a name that was brought with the team from New England so it was not a Jax original.

The team was owned by Lipton, so that had a lot to do with it.

Any word on where they intend to play?

In 2012 they will play at UNF, but this year has not been mentioned yet.

Correct, and they decided that they did not want to spend money on rebranding

It's funny. Jacksonville now has PDL (FC Jax Destroyers) and NPSL (Jacksonville United). United are actually the opening day fodder for Chattanooga FC.

I myself think Jacksonville could do a lower-tier pro soccer team, especially if Florida finally gets an MLS franchise (regardless of whether its Tampa Bay, Fort Lauderdale or Orlando).

Yeah, that's what kept me from getting one too. I hope they re-stock the larger sizes.

I live near Jacksonville, and until just this moment I had no idea we had any soccer teams.

And now looking at the roster, I see that I know two of the players. Hah!

If anyone wants the hookup on all the Jax Destroyers gossip, I'm your man, apparently.

As much as I would love to have a NASL or USL-anything team, I am very doubtful about Jacksonville's capability of supporting a team of that size. If it isn't college football, or the Jaguars (even then only sometimes), this city just cannot be bothered. Oh well. I'll try to make a couple Destroyer games (**** what an awful name).

It makes sense in context. Jacksonville is a big Navy town. They're actually getting a nuclear aircraft carrier in 2014.
