No, but it aint much prettier. It's a turkish video, and yes it's real. It's some kinda genetic defect or something. I think it's called anencephaly.
That's horrible... even if it (is it male of female?) survives which I seriously doubt, it is pretty much destined to live one of the most miserable existences out of the billions of people on the earth. I'm hoping it is just fabricated tabloid rubbish, because that is a proper tragedy. EDIT: Just read up on it on wiki. Apparently children born with it are forever blind, deaf, unconscious and incapable of thinking. Their brain missing large chunks and is left mostly exposed, causing inevitable infection and death within days or hours. It also seems 1,000-2,000 children are born with it a year... at least a side-effect is that the poor little things can't feel pain. This is far more saddening than the Virginia Tech incident, imo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anencephaly
Billy with a heart! To be serious, I can't even bring myself to see it. I love kids, and I'll just like.. blargh.
Got to say I thought that was fake, unless the poor mite is already dead? Wouldn't the kid be wired up to ******** with breathing apparatus and stuff if it were real or still alive? The bit where it showed the woman walkng around on her hands and feet, I've seen a documentary about before. It's a family in rural Turkey where some of them walk around like that and some are perfectly normal (it wasn't her kid, was it?). They were all in their twenties and living on the farm with their parents and the local kids threw rocks and stones at 'em whenever they saw them. They were trying to work out if it was genetic or learned behaviour with the help of the programme makers after receiving little to no help for years and years off the Turkish authorities. They were pretty much outcasts and because where they were was a highly religious area it was almost as if they were seen as 'un-natural' or 'cursed' in some way. Pretty sad really. Edit: Course, the documentary makers intentions weren't necesarilly pure either as it makes great tv. Link if anyone is at all bothered : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Family_That_Walks_On_All_Fours
Yeah, I remember this disease being a bit more present in Turkish populations than the average. The disease is sad, as there is actually NO way of living through this. Even if someone could do so, the abuse he or she would take as well as the other hardships of life (defects of pretty much every bodily function) would not make life worth it. Giving birth to an anencephalitic individual would be very traumatizing for a mother as well. It's a good thing that they can catch this with ultrasounds and just terminate the pregnancy in the bad cases.
I don't think they live more than a few hours normally. Still if I ever have this misfortune I think will have to abort.
Didn't check the link, but I have to ask. Why bring up the Virginia Tech incident? Are tragedies now up for comparison, like some contest? I have friends who go to Virginia Tech who I visited this week who are absolutely devestated and want out from the university that they loved just last week. Friends who could have lost their lives because of one psychotic student who couldn't manage the hard roads in life. I was in a state of complete fear when I couldn't get in touch with two of my good friends on 4/16, and even when one of them called me and told me that both her and my other out of touch friend were okay, I was still in shock. I'm not trying to have a go, but I've been disgusted this week hearing ignorant people make JOKES about the VT tragedy, and I've got alcohol in me, so maybe it's just that overreacting. But either way, reading something like that made me very, very angry.
Hahahahaha.. LOL in the true meaning of the term. You can't say anything more inappropriate in this thread than those 3 letters.
