    PEPSI Deildin (Round 11)

    26/08/10 Fylkir - KR 1-4

This game had been delayed as KR and Fylkir were playing in Europa League on the original date.
KR are now in 3rd place on 31 points, just 2 behind leaders IBV. KR have won the last 6 games to climb from the bottom half of the league.

    PEPSI Deildin (Round 19)

    12/09/10 Breidablik - Fylkir 1-0
    12/09/10 FH - Selfoss 2-1
    12/09/10 Grindavik - Haukar 1-1
    12/09/10 IBV - KR 2-4
    12/09/10 Valur - Stjarnan 5-1

    13/09/10 Fram - Keflavik 2-1

After the break for the EURO 2012 internationals it was back to the league games this weekend. With only 3 rounds of games left to played its getting exciting at the top of the PEPSI deildin, just 3 points seperate 1st place to 4th.
Breidablik are leading with 37 points, IBV have 36 points, FH have 35 and KR are on 34. On thursday evening Breidablik are away to KR in a real '6 pointer' and I am sure we could see the highest attendance of the season (3333 watched KR - FH a few weeks ago).

At the bottom Selfoss and Haukar both have 14 points, then there is a 4 point gap to Fylkir.

    PEPSI Deildin (Round 20)

    16/09/10 KR - Breidablik 1-3
    16/09/10 Stjarnan - FH 1-4
    16/09/10 Selfoss - IBV 0-2
    16/09/10 Fylkir - Grindavik 2-0
    16/09/10 Keflavik - Valur 3-1
    16/09/10 Haukar - Fram 2-1

Its still close at the top of the league, Breidablik won the game of the round away to KR, they won 3-1. The defeat leaves KR out of the title race now (although they can mathematically still win, if Breidablik, FH and IBV were to lose all their remaing games).
Breidablik still lead with 40 points, followed by IBV on 39 and FH on 38, we are in for an exciting last week.

    PEPSI Deildin (Round 21)

    19/09/10 Grindavik - KR 3-3
    19/09/10 FH - Keflavik 5-3
    19/09/10 Fylkir - Haukar 3-0
    19/09/10 IBV - Stjarnan 2-1
    19/09/10 Valur - Fram 1-3
    19/09/10 Breidablik - Selfoss 3-0

The race for the Icelandic league championship will go to the final round of games after yesterdays results. The 3 teams at the top: Breidablik, IBV and FH all won. Looking ahead to the last round of games its hard to predict who will be champions, they are all playing away too. Breidablik are away to Stjarnan who play on a artifical pitch which is not in good condition. IBV go to Keflavik and FH are away to Fram.

At the bottom its all over, Selfoss and Haukar have both been relegated after just one year in the top division. Replacing them fom 1.deild are Vikingur Reykjavik and Thor Akureyri.

    PEPSI Deildin (Round 22)

    25/09/10 Keflavik - IBV 4-1
    25/09/10 Stjarnan - Breidablik 0-0
    25/09/10 Fram - FH 0-3
    25/09/10 KR - Fylkir 3-0
    25/09/10 Haukar - Valur 2-1
    25/09/10 Selfoss - Grindavik 5-2

Breidablik have been crowned Iceland champions for the first time ever after an exciting finale to the league season. The Stjornuvollur, home of Stjarnan was packed with Breidablik supporters to watch a 0-0 draw. FH finished in second place only on goal difference after a 3-0 win away to Fram, the other contenders IBV were beaten 4-1 at Keflavik.

In another game yesterday, only 89 people watched the Haukar - Valur game at Vodafonevollur.

Geeze, I haven't checked up on this thread in awhile, but things really seemed to fall into place. It's too bad Selfoss is getting relegated already.

A step to far for Selfoss and Haukar I think and back to 1.deild next year. Haukar's last game of the season against Valur had a crowd of just 89 people

With the league in Iceland now over, there will be no more league action until next May.
After a few weeks break, we will start to see some friendly games played to keep the players fit over the winter, then around February the League Cup will start.

Valur have already replaced coach Gunnlaugur Jonsson after just one season in charge, his replacement is Kristjan Gudmundsson who had spent 2010 with HB on the Faroe Islands before being fired a few weeks ago. He was also Keflavik coach 2005 - 2009.

Yes some of the clubs from the PEPSI Deildin usually travel to Spain or Portugal for training camps in March/April and will play a few friendly games.
Over the last 5 years there have been a lot of full size indoor halls built around Iceland so the clubs use them for winter friendly games as its less expensive than travelling to warmer country.

I know that IA Akranes decided that the facilities they had in Akranes once the indoor hall (Akraneshollin)had been built was far better than travelling to Spain for a weeks training. You have to remember the players also have jobs too.

Breidablik coach Olafur Kristjansson has been given a new contract until 2015, no surprise really with the Kopavogur team winning their first championship this year. They also won the Iceland Cup last year for the first time too
