From a item posted by Joe Funicello, whose organization facilitated the combine that helped him land the trial:

Through close observation at the combine, a scout in attendance for Icelandic Premier League club Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar (FH) clued in on Reynolds. On Monday, he left for a trial at the team that finished in second place in 2013, qualifying for the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League.
He played for VSI Tampa Bay:

Coach Matt Weston invited the 23-year-old defender to VSI Tampa Bay FC after watching him play for Orlando City’s PDL team. Prior to his time at Orlando City, Reynolds played for the University of West Florida. During his collegiate career, Reynolds was selected as an All-region player in 2010 and 2011, and earned the 2011 Conference Player of the Year.

    Snip:

Arriving in Iceland earlier this year, Reynolds is now living in Hafnarfjodur, 10 minutes from the capitol city of Reykjavik.

Reynolds arrived in Iceland for a tryout early this winter, and he’s now back in training for the upcoming season, which begins in May.

“I had an amazing time,” he said of his initial tryout. “The experience was almost overwhelming in a sense that I’m an American player, I’m in a country where English isn’t the first language, I’ve never played in 20 degree weather. … At the same time, it was calming because I was there to do what I always wanted to do, and that was to play abroad. Football is the same wherever you go.”

Now, Reynolds has a chance to play first-division soccer and in a continental competition. By finishing second in the Úrvalsdeild (Iceland’s professional league) in 2013, FH earned a spot in the 2014-15 Europa League’s first qualifying round.

FH are through to the 3rd Qualifying Round, where they are matched up against Elfsborg (yes I am bored on a Friday afternoon, so I am trawling the Europa League site).

In the 1st Qualifying Round, they beat Glenavon by a 6-2 aggregate. Reynolds started the away leg and went 90 (they were up 3-0 from the home leg that he was on the bench for).

In the 2nd Qualifying Round, FH beat FC Neman Grondo. Reynolds played 20 minutes in the 1-1 away draw as mentioned above and was on the bench for the 2-0 home win.

In the domestic league, FH are top of the table and Reynolds has played 7 of the 12 games, 5 as a starter.

FH lost 4-1 at Elfsborg. Reynolds didn't get off the bench.

He's coming back to the States with LCFC:

Louisville City FC, the new USL PRO team that will start play in March of 2015, announced today two more signings that will suit-up for the city's new soccer team this upcoming season. Longtime pro Adam West, formerly with FC Edmonton, and Sean Reynolds, formerly with FH-Ingor of Iceland’s Urvalsdield, join Louisville City as defenders with a plethora of professional experience.

That's a pretty strong paragraph right there -- it's not everyday a writer gets a chance tocombine YA news, Adam West, the Úrvalsdeild and "plethora."

I see it as a squander. The author missed an opportunity to spell out FH's full name which is Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar.

In this short feature on Reynolds, the author did not miss:

Reynolds, now 25 and a University of West Florida graduate, somewhat begrudgingly attended a tryout with Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar. He "killed it," and soccer was fun again.
