Sooooooo, Kroos is not cutting it??? Just want to clarify because imo he is too passive. What Heynckes needs to improve is playing against team who press us and teams that pack it in and deny us room in their half. What's needed is a different approach to that. Change formation, channels, tactics.

Advantage this year is that we have the same coach and are strengthening the squad. However, he needs squad depth to be able to rotate players so they are not on their last leg by the end of the season.

Just stop. We aren't looking for a CB and it's mental to look for one.

Because he nobody to rotate ... Why is that so hard to understand? He did it quite well with Leverkusen. LvG and Hitzfeld had the same issue. We had no players who would mesh together past the first 11 to 13.

But we should ... ;) There is a reason why Boateng has played so much RB vs. CB

He just played there because we had no alternatives at the end of the season. Who let Drogba slip away with 2 minutes to play on the only corner of the game???

I don't know ... I really see Kroos as the carbon copy of Schweini. I see his future as a Box to box CM, not as a classic 10, but yet, the future can prove me wrong ... Nevertheless, I would love to see Ganso with a Bayern jersey Wont happen tough...

Agree with you 100% on Heynckes, but I don't see he doing any of that unfortunally, lets wait and see ...

Then Dante will play over him. He should never play RB for us ever again. We have 4 CBs, it's bloody mental to look for yet another CB to play in such position.

We've also spent too much on Boateng to give up so easily, and he will fight against one of the best CBs in Bundesliga.

No one rotated more than Heynckes last year with Leverkusen.

Heyckenes is a very adept rotator, Only that he doesnt have the materials to rotate

Beyond our first 11(including Muller and Tymo) Who can he rotate with? He can barely do 3 subs in a game before getting to Pranjic and co

The funny thing is many Schalke fans are the saying the same thing about Höwedes. "Matip and Papa are at least as good as him at CB so let's sell him for 15M+ and buy a proper RB".

The main reason was that Rafinha was a total flop. I mean, who would have expected at the start of the season that Contento would get the nod over Rafinha in the most important game of the year.

We shouldn't forget this was Boateng's first season in which he mainly played in the center. He obviously lacks experience as a CB at this level. There's no doubt he has to improve though. Dante is a very solid defender, a complete player, good in the air, strong on the ground.

Agree. Conclusion, there's no reason to go after Höwedes, even though I think he's better than these Schalke fans make him out to be. We made our bed with that position already and its unfair not to let the Boateng/Badstuber partnership develop further. I'll gladly take Draxler from them though if they want Rafinha back. :D

Agree, that's why we should not get Höwedes. We are better at CB than we were this season (depth, and able bodies). Maybe I should have said: "We should have done better than "Boateng" :D

This goose is cooked and we will have to make do with what we have until they determine that we need better guys or they actually mesh and do well (doubtful but that is my personal opinion).

Papabdsadasdhl or whatever his name is, is a lot better than Howedes. I swear he has to be one of the most overrated players around, if he wasn't German no one would even care about him.

But it's unfortunate that Germany is like England nowadays, every young German is overhyped beyond imagination.

I'd say Boateng is heavily overrated, but Badstuber gets a lot of crap even when he performs and always will imo due to his physical limitations. For me, Badstuber was one of the 5 best CBs in Europe this season, form wise.

I am just not sold on Badstuber yet. Maybe that's cause he cries too much on the field :D

Don't think we are going to get a top shelf, 25-30 year old CB. Too few of them and they are all too expensive and too in-demand. FO's not going to go for that. That leaves us with mostly players like the ones we already have and another 2 years of growing pains and evaluation.

Would love to have taken a shot at Vertonghen for the youth lottery, though. Think he's got more potential than either of our two, but I also think Jan's looking West rather than East for his shot at the spotlight.
