Heynckes said it succinctly, something along the lines of signing 2 world class players every season.

I think if we do sign Sahin and Giroud, along with Dante and Shaqiri - we'd be good to go for next year even if a couple of players come back with injury.

Disagree. Kroos proved this year that he is an attacking midfielder, at least against bigger teams that can pack the midfield on us. In easier home games, he is fine next to Schweini or Gustavo, but that is not his best position. Kroos was raised to be a traditional #10, and that is what he shall be. I think a great asset of his is that he is smart, and not too flashy; 10s like Riquelme and Cesc can get marked out of games because they try to make the killer pass every time. Kroos' game is more Barca-esque, where he'll move around, make simple passes, and if he has space he'll kill you, but until then he's happy to keep it simple.

If you see Kroos as a #10, and there's no reason not to after this season, then we only have 2 CMs. I think Sahin and Schweinsteiger are similar players, but in a way that they could play together and "take it in turns", especially against weaker competition. The guy is world class. If we add him and Giroud we are 2 deep at every position except CM and Wing where we have 3 for 2 spots. Ideal 20 man squad IMO, everyone beyond that is for development or experience.

We could play with beide Gustavo+Sahin or Sahin+Schweini or Sahin+Kroos, we need to enforce the roster......

Besides getting like for like players as backups, I would like to see us get players that would allow us to move from the 4-2-3-1 to something like a 4-3-3 or some other formation to really mix it up.

We've been lining up the same way for the past 4/5 years and somehow we always seem to get bogged down by more defensively discipline teams. Our counter attack is killer, possession play solid, our players all have high football IQ (Olic is gone now :sneaky:), defense is solid, I just think at most times we are too predictable and lining up the same way everyday really doesn't help.

How " juicy " would this be as an alternative:

    ---Lahm ---Boa---- Bad---- Alaba
    ----Piggy/Shaqiri---- Sahin---- Kroos
    ---------Rob ----Muller----- Rib

Well the Sahin transfer would indeed be perfect the widen the quality in the central midfield but it doesn't look like Mourinho is willing to let Sahin go just yet. We definitely will not go for a loan deal so there's quite a bit of work to be done for Nerlinger to convince Real Madrid.

Therefore it couldn't hurt to take a closer look at other players (Banega, K.P. Boateng?) as well. Perhaps there is even another player we haven't thought about on the market.

What I'd like to see this summer:

    1. A new central midfielder: as mentioned above
    2. A new Center Forward to compete with Gomez: it is unfortunate that Rossi ruptured his cruciate ligament again, I believe the rumors linking him to us were valid. Though the Giroud lad seems fine and 10m € is a fair signing fee I'd have liked a more agile and flexible striker but to pay 30m € + X for Higuain seems utter nonsense. So the Frenchman is fine.
    3. Extend Alabas contract to 2017 :D
    4. Get an experienced oldster ans replace Contento as the LB backup player.

    NEUER
    LAHM(RAF)-BOA(V.BUYTEN)-BADS(DANTE)-ALABA(NEW FULLBACK)
    GUSTAVO(SAHIN, TYMO)-PIGGY(KROOS)
    ROB(MÜLLER, SHAQ)-KROOS(MÜLLER)-RIB(SHAQ)
    GOMEZ(PIZZA)

Bloody hell i just don't see Nuri playing alongside Schweini. I love the guy but I don't even think the rumour is true, as that would be slap in the face for Dortmund as well considering the way he left. I don't think Nuri himself would be keen on joining Bayern.

That....or even worse Schweini might go this summer o_O

All the more reason to do so.(as far as the Bayern FO is). :D But seriously I wouldn't put it past the FO to do so simply to ensure he DOESN'T return to BvB

I'm not sure it would be a slap in the face to Dortmund; at least not to me as a fan and I love the kid. Bottom line was, he left us for Real Madrid and I can't blame him. We've moved on and if he gets sold to Bayern it just shows he's going were the money and playing time is.

Like I said, we've moved on without him and he can do what he wants and whats best for his career.

To try to smash Borussia 09 we had to get Messi, CR7, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique', Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Drogba, do we have the money??????????:poop:

RVP could possibly be leaving. Hoeness do what you need to do - tell Robben to have a "conversation" with him during Euro 2012 ;)

Only if he promises not to get hurt ;) Three brittle players up front in Ribery, Robben, and RvP may be too much.

Yeah, I don't get it either. We've a better team now than when nuri was there. And wherever he goes, he'd almost be sure to ensure an extra player for us if his club plays us. He's always been a sensitive kid, and he still bleeds schwarzgelb.

BVB's season this year certainly blows away the theory that he was the lynchpin of that side.

If Bayern wants or choses to they can spend more. They have the money but it needs to be economically sensible for them. Just look at 2009/2010. They still bought Robben after spending 50M on Olic (signing bonus), Gomez, Braafheid, Pranjic, and Tymo.
