With the way the ofc qualifiers match are going is there a chance for one of your countries to qualify for the world cup 2010? That would be awesome.

It all comes down to the WC playoffs with the 5th Asian team. New Zealand has a stronger and flexible team out of all of OFC. New Caledonia are nearly just as strong and it will come down between these two teams to qualify to the next stage against AFC number 5. The prospect does look like a 50/50 in the playoffs. It sort of depends who is the 5th AFC team will be.

Oh yeah man, that's good. New Caledonia... what is that? :D

Hope your oceania's team win in the match against the 5th asian team... do you already know when will there be that match?

The last of the OFC Stage Two final group games will be on the 19th November 2008. The 3rd placers of each of the two final AFC groups will playoff with each other to determine their 5th placed AFC team on the 14th November and 21st of November 2008.

The date for the winner of the OFC and the 5th placed AFC playoffs are yet to be determined but are most likely to take place in 2009.

So why has it changed from 5th South American team to the 5th Asian team?

Because it's FIFA's next step in merging the OFC into the AFC.

Also timewise (in world terms) it's more convenient to have the two final intercontinental playoffs (in the 5-day period allocated for the two games) between north & south confederations rather than east & west ones that need to cross the international dateline.

Sorry mate- unable to rep you for that! :D

I would find it so highly ironic if we finish third in our group and make it through the Asian Playoffs, just to play New Zealand again! :D

Yes then you lose on an away goal.

That would be embarrassing for you lot, wouldn't it after switching confederation?
