But he arrived just 2 weeks before Fink got sacked. He was in a new city with new team mates, etc Maybe Fink was going to play him more. We dont know.

How was the rotation between Rudnevs, Lassoga, and Zoua been? Also, how have Beister and Hakan been playing?

Cahanoglu has been great. He's the next vdV. Not sure why Beister didn't play: great work rate, seldom success. Zoua seems better, but can't match Mr. Pierre

Here is an interview with Kreuzer. At this point they are not even thinking about a permanent transfer of Lasogga.

I don't know how much the half-million euro man, Kreuzer was involved in the decisions to bring aboard van Marwijk and Lasogga, but there isn't much to complain about this week. ;)

The way the game with Stuttgart played, it's hard to believe it ended in a draw. HSV pressed for extended periods, then Stuttgart would get the ball and go down and score. HSV must have had 80% of the good chances, but that's football I guess. Improving the defense has been a need for awhile so nothing has changed in that regard, but at least they are having better possessions and scoring opportunities since BvM took over.

Replacing Zoua with Beister really cranked up the pressure. Zoua has yet to show me much so far.

I like Zuoa's fast, physical presence, but agree he has so tentative. Perhaps because his old coach is gone?

Zoua doesnt look good. He is giving the ball away too much and very rarely looks threatening. Beister is much better right now. Calhanoglu, on the other hand, looks like a great signing. He is a bit rough around the edges but you can see the massive talent he has with at least 4-5 brilliant moments every game. He is a real joy to watch and it`s great that he has a top coach like van Marwijk and a team mate like VdV to learn from.

Can't see Sobiech starting next week against Leverkusen. At this point how about Westermann back to CB. And starting Lam Zhi Gin at RB again?

Lassoga & Beister continue their good offensive form.

Rene Adler was horrendous, lit up for another 5(+) goals against. His judgement and positioning is awful. Castro's goal at the end pretty much summed it all up for the night.

5-3 loss against Leverkusen. Entertaining for the neutral but that defending was just so bad............

Words can not describe how awful Westermann is at right back. How on earth can van Marwijk persist with him? Hopefully this was his last start at right back.
Leverkusen's strength is counter attacking football and HSV's possession football/high defensive line played right into their hands. HSV was living dangerously for most of the match so 5 goals conceded was no surprise. It could have been more.

The positioning by the defenders was completely off. The team was not compact enough. Van Marwijk has to work on the shape of the team when they dont have the ball.
For the 1st goal, Calhanoglu made a careless/sloppy pass in a dangerous position and then Westermann was not good enough in the 1v1 with Son.
For the 2nd goal, Tah and especially Westermann showed very disappointing positioning. To be cut open like that right through the middle is amateurish.
For the 4th goal(Kiessling's goal), Tah really showed his inexperience. He was supposed to be playing a high line but instead he followed the man(Kiessling) and he was not looking at the ball at all. He just needed to make a step forward and Kiessling was offside but he had no idea what was happening. Very disapppointing stuff.

Attack was good though. 3 goals away at Leverkusen.... couldnt have asked for more.

Appears that van Marwijk will stubbornly stick with Westerrmann at RB until Diekmeier returns. He must not rate Lam Zhi Gin at all, leaving him on the bench for the last 5-6 games.

Diekmeier just signed a contract extension til 2016. Lam doesn't have a future at Hamburg, he should really go on loan/transfer in January for playing time this season.

Hannover are shit away from home, also have injury problems and have played like shit in the last 5-6 games. So there is a big chance that you will enjoy seeing a win there. Have fun !

Wonder if Ilicevic will play due to VdV injury. He played 45 minutes at Iceland before getting yanked at half -- and wasn't on the roster for the return match in Croatia

Did you join HSV -- and get a ticket discount. Very interested to hear of your journey. You are traveling from the US, right?

I leave tomorrow out of PHL and will be in Hamburg on Friday. Winter Dom and HSV beckon. I got tix in the A level familienblock. Dirt cheap too. Like 80 bucks total for 4. Sticker shock....because that it is minor league prices in here in the states for a major league game.

Hunting for the next Son Heung Min? Korean prospect, Forward Roan Kwon (1995) signs with Hamburg. Kwon & CB. Dong-Su Kim (1995) will join the U-19 team in January.
