there are some rumours about agents watching Tomas Rincon in Copa America, what do u guys think, will he be given more minutes this season or will be sold if another team wants him?

He is young and is playing very well for Venezuela. With Jarolim getting older, I expect Rincon to see more playing time. However, if a good offer is put on the table, I could see us selling, as Arnesen has expressed interest in John Obi Mikel. On the other hand, Chelsea won't sell Mikel now, with Essien being out 6 months.

I was being completely sarcastic with my enthusiasm. I also hope to see Son breakout this year.

I just love this boy Son. 2 goals yesterday against Bayern, though it only was the LIGA total cup.
But he has a nose for the goal and that gives hope for a reasonable season.

hmm, no options to edit my post, so double post by me.

so so game today vs dortmund, as expected.
defense looked good in my opinion, but i really dont like westermann. He is an ok defender and mostly does the job, but what really gets on my nerv is his behaviour when mistakes happen.
he is always complaining, even when its his fault. I dont know exactly what he says on the field towards his teammates, but it sure doesnt look like he admits his own mistakes, like the first goal today where he didnt mark his man and that one was entirely on him alone.

I came away from both matches with one clear observation...

I am going to have to buy this year's away kit. Those are fresh.

Mancienne looked really good, great anticipation. I really wonder though how the press came to the conclusion that he's pronounced "mänschn", it's pretty much pronounced like it is spelled. You just know that everyone will mispronounce him now.

Quite a lot of players are still missing, and the season hasn't begun yet, but I'm not too thrilled about the offense. There is a lack of ideas, something that was apparent last season as well, and the final pass is misplayed way too often.

I wasn't able to watch here in the US, I couldn't find a stream. But I'm not pleased with the outcome.

I re-watched the Liga Total match against Bayern. Honestly, I'm not convinced we played all that well. Bayern had loads of chances in that match and simply didn't finish them. I think it could be another long year ahead, unfortunately.

We have a lot of young talent that is going to need time to gel with each other. It's definitely going to be a season where we, as fans, will need to have some patience, but I expect a top-10 finish and with any luck, maybe we'll compete for a spot in Europa.

I'm just not seeing it. Bayern should've won easily in that match. I realize it's Bayern I'm comparing the team to, but there's still way too many gaps in the defense and a lack of creativity with the ball going forward. Midtable obscurity is getting extremely old.

I'm not saying its going to be a great season. We're obviously in a rebuilding stage. However, there is talent, albeit young talent. Like you said, our biggest issue is our lake of creativity. That said, Per Skjelbred has yet to join us, and there are a lot of expectations riding on him to be the creative spark in our offense.

Embarrassing how some fans whistled everytime Westermann played the ball in the second half. Heck, whistling in preseason is stupid enough, but attacking one of your players in such a way is flat out disgusting.

That beign said, I really can't see us having much success with Oenning as a coach. Yes, there is talent on the roster, just like in the last few years, but talent won't get anywhere if there is no system in place.

For years the gap between defense and midfield has been too big, yet no coach tried to fix it. The defense makes the occasional blunder, which is made worse by the fact that they are left completely alone by the defensive midfielders. Multiple times the defense had to collaps to the goal to defend against attackers, only to see yet another attacker moving freely in the penalty area because Tesche or Kacar couldn't be bothered to cover them.

Kacar really needs to get his injury fixed, he's not playing well at all right now. Pairing him with Tesche is not a good idea either. Neither is good at destroying, both are more offensive minded, plus Kacar isn't exactly a speedster. We will have to wait how Skjelbred fares, as of right now, having at least one of Jarolim or Rincon on the field is a must.

The wings have looked okay so far, though having Elia and Töre on the field makes the center quite crowded, as both prefer to cut to the middle early.

The lack of creativity is apparent. There are a few good attacks per game, but no constant pressure. When forced to create a goal, they need luck. Not a promising sign, as many teams will try and take advantage of our suspect defensive behaviour and then wait for us to make the play.

I agree with all of this. However, I still think a top 8 finish is manageable.

    1) Where was Son? Not even on the bench. The f**k?
    2) Hekio is ass.
    3) Kacar needs to get back defensively when Diekmeier pushes forward.
    4) Dortmund is REALLY good. Maybe better than last year.

I don't think that I need to say anything about this game, after all, I would just repeat myself.

Oenning needs to go, as quickly as possible.

Unlike the title of the Mainz thread this one seems quite fitting.

It's only the 3rd week. Give the team a chance... then again did anyone seriously expect HSV to actually be good?
