he's a striker and is on loan, so he's a loan striker.

I'm pretty sure every minute LD had at Bayern, Toni or Klose were also playing.

Donovan's problem at Bayern was he played roughly the same amount of minutes as he did in MLS Cup this year. At least in games that mattered.

Of course in games that didn't matter he scored some goals.

Unfortunately, Everton needs points, and they probably won't get any, so I think we'll see a 4-5-1, but the decision Moyes has to make is weather to put Cahill up top by himself and put Donny in the midfield, or 4-4-2. He has to play Donovan though. Arsenal's defenders will eat up Vaughan by himself. I'm hoping for a 4-3 Arsenal win with a hattrick from Landon.

Maybe it would be a total flop... but i would love to see Donovan playing as a lone striker! who knows what would happen?

Wow, really getting psyched now and envisioning great things from LD. I know he is going to do well, but may need a couple of games to get adjusted. Really ready to gush pride tomorrow.

    Yeah, I'm stoked.

It's a 2 a.m. live start time here in Melbourne, and I'll be determined to get a nap sometime this evening. I do not want to miss this match, no matter what. Even in our current heatwave.

Mind you, with the current list of cancellations reducing Saturday's Premiership fixture list to three games, you can bet that this match will have Donovan under the microscope a bit more intensely than it may have had for his debut, provided we had a full slate of games at the normal day and time.

Really looking forward to this, as you can tell -- and with Everton's current absence and injury situation, I wouldn't be surprised if Donovan starts. More likely, he would come off the bench, but being in the Toffees' first eleven wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Looks like this WILL be on Setanta. They had removed the EPL games from the schedule on their website, but now Arsenal-Everton plus other games have reappeared.

Should be a 4-4-1-1 Would be ridiculous to drop Vaughan when he's scored two in two. I'd go Vaughan with Donovan behind.

that is Donovan's best position anyway. Most every USA fan, or anyone who has seen him much will tell you that Landon is at his best in the attacking 3rd, but behind strikers. His biggest strength is his passing. THAT is where he is world class. Yes, he can do a good job up front, but he does not get to pass the ball as much. You want him facing the goal, with the ball at his feet, and some runners in front of him. That is where he can really dazzle.

Exactly, to put Donovan up top on his own would be suicide, especially against Arsenal.

Along the lines of the previous poster, is there a chance you think we might be able to get someone to record this and post a vid online? I don't get Setanta and it seems I will internet-less during the match.... I'm a Gunners fan and a LD fan... so... duh, want to watch :)

Yeah. This is what I meant with my post about his time at Bayern. He always seemed to be receiving the ball in the penalty area right next to 2 defenders who proceeded to crush him.

In the library currently, may have to venture to a pub for this one...

    Donovan's comments on this match:
"Arsenal are a very good team playing very well right now... I would hope to play and it would be a great experience but I'm here to help this team win, whatever that takes."

As far as the Setanta US website is concerned, they are still showing the game. I hope this is true, as I haven't been paying $15/month to watch Rugby.
