I read that the national team rankings for rugby are zero-sum, meaning that after every game the winner gains X points and the loser loses X points. I decided to see how consistent the FIFA Rankings are. Here are the sum of the points for every country:

    October 2011: 81,546
    September 2011: 80,888
    August 2011: 79,788
    October 2010: 78,879
    October 2009: 80,375
    October 2008: 83,149
    October 2007: 80,782

If anybody posts or private messages me their e-mail address I will e-mail you the spreadsheet I made.

Peter Kellner writing in the current issue of 'Prospect' magazine about this states, 'What distinguishes people who call themselves 'English' is a passion for keeping other countries at arm's length' and continues, 'Whisper it softly, but is ... Generations of politicians have consistently and, indeed, invariably lied to us over the EEC/CM/EU/Euro, that it is hardly surprising that you would have to look very hard to find single person in Britain who believes a single word that .
