Houston beats N.Y., wins Challenge Cup Read about it this morning. Pretty cool that Houston has its first piece of hardware, considering I haven't even had a chance to see them play yet!
The Dynamo had a number of other quality chances that either just missed or the pass was just a fraction off, so the offense is coming into sync. Most of the chances came from flank play; for the first time in quite some time, the pairing of DeRosario and Clark was just off a bit. Many of the Red Bull's counters came from winning tackles in the midfield and moving forward smartly before the mid fielders were in defensive position. My assessment is that this was just an off night in terms of the normally great synergy between these two outstanding center mid fielders. The offensive surge that developed especially in the second half was amazing. With Mullen and Barrett on the wings attacking along with the forwards the center mids, we have a potent attack. The back line was steady as well, especially in view of the fact that this was their first time together. Cochran stepped up well, and Adrian can win the ball in the air and can man mark with the best of them. All in all, a very impressive pre season game; Dynamo fans should be proud of what Dom has created in such a short time and with the pressures of turmoil and subsequent relocation in such a short pwriod of time.
