Game 1: Sellout. Game 2: 16-17K Game 3: Sellout Game 4: Sellout (if it doesn't....shame on us.) Game 5: 16K
Game 1: sellout Game 2: 17,000 Game 3: sellout Game 4: 18,000 Game 5: Played behind closed doors due to zombie homeless people overrunning the area and massive traffic gridlock caused by MetroRail construction during first 4 games
again it depends on the giveaways for the game (if soccer balls are given away it will be a sellout) Game 1 DC Sellout Game 2 Portland 14K Game 3 LA Sellout Game 4 Dallas 18K Game 5 Toronto 14K
Too much negativity!! I work for reliant...yes the most football oriented company in Houston! You cannot work here without being a Texan fan or cowboy fan (we power the cowboy stadium as well) and you wouldn't imagine the HUGE buzz that the new stadium is building. People want to go see a soccer game and not just regular people FOOTBALL people! Those are the hardest to get to go to soccer games. People who have never been to the Dynamo games are going to want to go sometime during the season and tickets are going to be hard to come by since there's only 22k seats (less actual seating I know). Especially when half maybe more of the seats are already sold because of STH's. Not just here everywhere i've gone people have been talking about it (non-soccer fans/ euro-snobs). I think the figures are gonna be quite good at least the first year! MY PREDICTION 19-20K AVERAGE....we can bet some Saint Arnold's on that!!
Not an attendance number, but just thought I would mention another way we are better than FCDallas...sometime last night we passed FCDallas in the number of post on BigSoccer. Houston now has 261,896 post to FCDallas 261,873. We did this in FAR fewer years than Dallas has been on these boards. Just another way we are superior to the Little-D kids.
This is interesting, but it's pretty logical when you think about it. How many different ways are there for the Waldo fans to type "We suck?" Reminds me of my Latin classes in high school (yeah, I'm a nerd, stfu!) Dallas sucks, Dallas has sucked, Dallas will suck, Dallas will really suck! What else is there to post on BigSoccer?
http://espn.go.com/nba/attendanceThe Rockets are 29th (out of 30 teams) in average attendance. They are currently a good team, 1st place in the Southwest Division and top 3 in Western Conference standings. It's weird they have a downtown arena and they still put up FCD-like numbers. The Astros are looking to improve their attendance by lowering ticket prices and a bring-your-own-food/snacks policy is allowed in the ballpark. But, they need more than just low ticket prices to improve attendance and Jim Crane needs to stop with his nonsense about changing the team's name. This is the right time for the Dynamo with the opening of BBVA Compass stadium and a TV deal with Channel 2. The sky's the limit just like it did in April 2006.
I honestly believe the demographic shifts in Houston are moving away from "American" sports and toward soccer. And by demographics I mean younger people who have grown up playing and watching soccer, not just the Hispanic shift in the city's demographics. I work at a college and see kids wearing soccer gear all the time. Just today I had four students in one class wearing various soccer shirts. One kid wearing his local club's t-shirt, one guy wearing a Mexico jersey, another guy wearing an Inter jersey and a girl wearing a really nice Spain warm up jacket. I see Texans stuff in season, and a few Rockets shirts here and there but almost never see any students wearing Astros stuff. I'm not saying the NBA is going to die tomorrow and Dynamo will suddenly be able to sell out Reliant or anything like that. But I really believe that we're moving away from baseball and basketball as two of the Top Three. I've been thinking this since the MLS All-Star game at Reliant when I met the little kid whose mother had driven him here from Arkansas to see MUFC. If little white boys in Arkansas are watching soccer it's not a "foreign" sport anymore.
gotta say alot of you have been spot one. lowest attendance so far has been reported at 18.5k for the second DC game.

If the Dynamo sellout the Columbus game on Sunday, the average will go up to 21,211 a game which will most likely pass the Astros as the 2nd best attended professional sport in Houston. As of 8/13 the Astros are averaging 21,283.
Well . . . at BBVA there are pockets of tickets where people didn't show or scalpers get stuck with them. At the juice box that extends to whole sections.

OK, I did not go tonite due to another commitment (but the tickets were used!) but watching it on TV it seemed sort of dead, but I sort of thought that FS Houston had fewer field mics or was mixing the crowd noise poorly. I know that the NBC Sports Network games seem to have enhanced stadium noise from BBVA, or more mics. But maybe it was kind of dead.
