You booed Pat Onstad?! Kiss those Cups goodbye without that man. I'm sure he had nothing to do with the dozens of 1-0 wins. That's shameful.
A GK coach does that when he's correct. Is that what you do when you are wrong? Just boo the other team? Also, are you sure its not the third time he returned to Houston?
I wasn't at the stadium, but c'mon. The GK coach should not be getting ejected from a game. Let the Manager/players talk to the officials. It didn't even have anything to do with his GK.
I would rather have lost Onstad than Ben, but I'd also much rather have lost Chad than either... Onstad would have been nice to have around on Sunday if we go to PKs.
Hey Houston fans: Thanks for your thoughts on the Onstad sending off. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out of this thread, K?
He did exactly the right thing, which was preventing his manager from getting sent off instead. Someone had to protest that awful call.
Given this forum's propensity for puns, I was SURE that would have had a cascade effect. Perhaps it was a tad too subtle...
Houston fan here . .the door missed me. You are precisely right. He took the ejection for the bench. They wanted their opinion known on the call and Pat was the guy to fall on the grenade over Ben.
as someone whose lived half his live in the DC area and half his live in the Houston area, and prior to the conference realignment had no qualms about being both a Houston and DCU fan, i'm kinda win-win right now. My allegiance does fall to Houston if pushed though, so i'm hoping for a hard-fought 2-2 scoreline. Getting to stand with the away supporters, and have a great view of the screaming eagles, i'm super excited for sunday.
Just by looking at available tickets on ticketmaster, there is going to be a huge crowd on Saturday. Here are basically the only non-individual seats left of any substance. Those other sections with color are 4 or 5 individual seats per light blue section. I am assuming this isn't the upper deck, so when do they open it up?
Why is Najar still out? I haven't seen anything indicating the was still out. Nevermind. I see he got a two game suspension. Crap.
Well that blows big donkey balls. I've got an awesome idea for a club that is dropping attendance every year, let's not get as many people as want to attend for potentially our last game of the season. Let's turn them away! No need to take the chance of attracting new fans or anything.
It's called creating demand. This is an event driven town. If something is hard to get tickets to, it's automatically cooler. I don't think we would have sold enough extra tickets to make it worthwhile for the team. Should we advance to MLS cup, different story.
I definitely get that argument, but, to humor CrazyDCFan, is demand really going to outweigh the potential income of selling, for example, a thousand seats in the upper deck? if they sell 1000 at $40 a pop, after concessions and parking that could be an extra $50,000 gross. just how much does it cost to open the upper deck? Are they betting on future attendance? Hoping that people will buy in advance instead of gameday because last time they came to a match it sold out?
It's part of our current lease that the upper deck stays closed - we just signed a new lease before the 2012 season kicked off. They are not maintaining the upper concourses, so to open them up for one game is not exactly cheap in and of itself. I wouldn't be surprised if an extra 1000 tickets actually was *not* enough for it to make sense, as I don't think they are keeping it closed to inject scarcity into the market for tickets. We're not quite there yet. However, they have said that if we host MLS Cup it will be open. But we're talking much more than 1000 tickets in that case.
