Will be nice when NWSL adds a 10th team. This odd number of team thing we have had off and on in MLS and now with NWSL drives me nuts given the need for bye weeks.
Well, there won't be many full bye weeks left as the season goes on, considering that after week 3 NWSL will be averaging roughly six games per week.
Not sure why I could not edit my post, but in any case... I'm in the NWSL media pool for voting on NWSL Player of the Week. Have to admit that I did not put Noyola at the top of my ballot. She was fantastic after coming on as a sub, but I struggle with giving "full credit" for a penalty even if it was the match winner. Had she been the one to draw the penalty, it might have been different. I had Diana Matheson at the top of my ballot. She scored two quality goals from the run of play to spearhead Washington's upset win over FC Kansas City and was generally a force in the midfield for the full 90 minutes.
I think they should market her more for the latino/hispanic population here in Houston. She can do some interviews with the local spanish tv stations, KXLN-45 Univision and KTMD-47 Telemundo. Noyola plays for the Mexican WNT and can also be a role model for the young Mexican-American girls.
Yeah, we wouldn't want those Mexican-Americans looking up to American players and especially not white American players. I'm sure Ortiz had already thought of this. Does a Female Mexican Fan Yetti exist??

Seattle is up next for us. They have looked pretty damn scary in their first two matches. 3 goals in each, but could easily have scored far more than that. Their best player in the 1st match, Rapinoe, did not even play last night and they still looked dominant. This will be a stern test for the Dash.

This was all over Twitter yesterday, but the Dash officially acquired Kaylyn Kyle from Boston for Nikki Washington. Kyle is a Canadian allocated player. 76 national team appearances despite a young age - 25. Will take Bock's spot in the midfield. Quality player, brilliant piece of business. I thought Washington has been the weakest link for the Dash thus far this season. She was headed for the bench in a month when Engen arrives anyway. Toulouse probably steps in for her for the time being. Looks a lopsided deal but word is Kyle had made demands on the Boston side that were going to be difficult to work out. She was left out of the side this past weekend. Likely lessened what Boston could ask for in return.
I agree on Washington. She was not good in that position, and a liability. I'm surprised that we picked up Kyle. I always rated her well.
God damn you weren't kidding. http://worldcupapp.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Lauren-Sesselmann.jpg Don't like seeing this
That's ancient history. She's identified herself as Dash now and said how much she is looking foward to joining the team. Amazing what a torn ACL at 30 will do to make you happy with your circumstances.
Dash just announced the signing of Austrian international Nina Burger. She's scored 239 goals for her club in Austria (since 2005) and has 29 goals in 50 CAPS for Austria. In the House of Houston thread I posted my interview with Waldrum from earlier today on both Burger and Kyle, which also contains my interview with Kyle.
