SCAA's Steven Lo, one of the key figures in the establishment of the forthcoming "Hong Kong Pro-League", said on his blog that talks with HK govt has gone well.

Six locations in HK are considered most likely to be used for the "HK Pro League". He only named the area and number of teams. Behind each are my guesses.

    - Hong Kong Island (2 teams). My guess is South China and Happy Valley.

    - Kowloon Central (2 teams). Kitchee and Citizen.

    - Kowloon East (2 teams). Sunhei and Fourseas.

    - Shatin & Tai Po (2 teams). Shatin & Tai Po.

    - Yuen Long (1 team). TSW Pegasus.

    - Tsing Yi (1 team). Eastern.

It's good to see that the league will be widely spread.

When are they thinking of launching this Pro-League and what would happen to sides not considered?

Will they just filter into the 2nd Level and so on, and have a chance of progression (promotion/relegation).

There is no mention of promotion/relegation from Steven Lo. I have no idea if it will be maintained or not. If it is down to me, then I would make each team a franchise and forget promotion and relegation. Steven Lo did mention a minimum budget required for each team. I assume there will be entry fees as well because they want to award this as prize money for the league winners.

They plan to launch it for next season, ie 2009-2010.

Actually, the 10 teams listed are not confirmed. I forgot about Mutual totally. Well, after I forgot them they got thrashed by Happy Valley yesterday...

South China AA launches its 100th Anniversay "Red body White Sleeve" shirt.

This was their original design 100 years ago allegedly. The story is that they copied it from Arsenal's design.

It will be worn during AFC Cup games as well.

    Round 14 Results

11.01.2009 Citizen AA 1-2 South China
    11.01.2009 Kitchee 1-1 TSW Pegasus
10.01.2009 Happy Valley 0-1 Eastern AA
10.01.2009 Xiangxue Eisiti 2-1 Mutual FC
10.01.2009 Wofoo Tai Po 0-0 Tuen Mun Progoal
09.01.2009 Convoy Sun Hei 2-2 Sheffield United

South China inflict the first defeat on Citizen and open up a 7 point gap at the top of the table. Match was played in front of 3,500 fans. South China remain the only undefeated team in the league so far.

At the other end of the table, Xiangxue Eisiti picked up their first victory against lowly Mutual, and therefore leapfrog Tuen Mun Progoal to send them bottom again on goal difference

Eastern has no chance in that group. They are struggling in the league and they will not be able to make it through if you ask me.

South China is confident of progressing from their group. They have the best HK players in their team now. I hope they do well.

To be honest, SCAA must, nt shld, get second spt min in their grp

Johor FC hve no business in AFC Cup (as Negri won the FA Cup) & as Malaysia sides r w/o foreigners, they can be discounted for this year AFC Cup

Fr VB Sports Club, SCAA already show they r best-equipped HK side & if still cnnt beat VB then HK football shld start sweating

It a grp make for SCAA to get into last 16

I don't think the match will be broadcast live in Hong Kong. There will only be highlights. HK TV channels suck, I know.

Hong Kong's attack looks really impressive. Goodluck for the next match against Bahrain.
By the way, can you tell me more about South China club?
I heard SC is a long-standing club but how strong they are in comparison with other Asian clubs? They have a Brazilian striker named Tales, right?

Your right, they are a long standing club and have won the Hong Kong First Division on 38 occasions. Comapre that to their closest rivals Seiko SA, who have only won 9 championships and actually stopped playing back in the 1985/86 season. The current present day closest team is Happy Valley who have won 6 championships.

Although the number of championships won have a very big difference, it must be said that not all clubs have been formed at the same time, South China were formed in about 1904 were as Happy Valley were formed in 1950, so there is a big margin there.

South China played in the AFC Cup last year and struggled, only getting 4 points against the likes of Home United (Singapore) and Kedah (Malaysia). So if they can't compete against these clubs, then i can never see them competing against Arab clubs in this competition.

Hopefully they will have a decent campaign this time round.

I will say the Hong Kong players are good technically, but physically, they lack toughness, speed and endurance. So when they come up against mainland Chinese and Japanese players, they often lose out in physical confrontations and get tired quickly.

Ng Wai-Chiu, Cordeiro and Ambassa Guy are the three toughest players we have. We really depend on them to defend against Bahrain and Japan.

Watch for the first Eastern goal, scored by Akosah. He will become a naturalized HK citizen in the autumn and could play for HK then, if he wants to.

Does anyone know where I can watch the highlights of this game or even a download would be great? I couldn't find any good streams on this game and it was on at the same time as the China game.
