http://diez.hn/Inicio/Ediciones/2011/06/23/Noticias/A-preparar-la-seleccion-olimpica-de-Honduras Next on the Seleccion Hondureno's agenda is 2012 London Olympic Games. Honduras is in a 3 team group with Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Yall know the rules, 1st place goes directly to final stage of qualifiers while 2nd place of the group is forced to play a repechaje against the 2nd place of the other group that includes, El Salvador, Guatemala y Panama. We're hosting our group which means we should finish no less than 1st place. The team will be coached by Asst. Head Coach of Honduras, Uruguayo, Miguel Falero. This ofcourse will be a U-23 squad as always and from the looks of it.. Honduras may just qualify for the Olympics for a 3rd time and 2nd consecutive time. Some names on this U-23 list: Roger Rojas, Eddie Hernandez, Mario Martinez, Johnny Leveron, Reinieri Mayorquin, Gerson Rodas, Omar Elvir, Anthony Lozano, Roger Mondragon, Jose Mendoza and Andy Najar, just to name a few. Good luck to them, it kicks off in September.

The Tico team will be good and will have Copa America experience, as will the Mexican team. The American youth teams are always strong as well. Will be tough to qualify. First things first though, and lets get through this first stage. Hopefully the 'Jampedranos' will pack the stadium in support.
I doubt it. They barely pack meaningless friendlies. Shoulda done it in like Comayagua where Hispano play imo.

You guys might not have to play us...we might not participate since our 5 players that play in Europe weren't loaned (Campbell, Urena, Alvarado,Oviedo, Gamboa)...and Saprissa and Alajuelense don't want to loan their players...unless things change it looks like we'll be taking a U-20 team or not participate at all.
It's kind of hard to have depth when we'll most likely be missing 15-20 players who won't be loaned or are "injured". Most of them either played in the last Copa America or in the last 2 U-20 WC's which is a big loss for us. I just hope our local clubs loan their players because it will give us a better chance to qualify. And it's not like we have a great crop of players....you've seen our NT...we aren't as good as we use to be.
Yea...but it ain't good...i'll let you guys know who we take once it's confirmed...since 1st place will most likely be between CR and HON...Azul can you tell me how good you're squad is?...i'm guessing you guys won't be able to take your abroad players either since it's not a FIFA Date.
I'm surprised more experienced players like Israel Fonseca, Reineiry Mayorquin, Christian Martinez, Wilmer Crisanto haven't been included.
Wilmer Crisanto plays for Victoria... they are terrible. I don't think Reineiry Mayorquin has played much..or any this season. Chrsitian Martinez hasn't played a lot this season. Israel Fonseca was a surprise.. a lot of people thought he'd get a call-up.
Fulltime: Honduras 2-2 Costa Rica good job of keeping it classy Ticos ... now we just need to golear Nicaragua by 5 goals.

We weren't classy but I don't blame the kids or the staff....we had a ref who robbed us of a penalty...and we lost to a team which we were better than most of the game. This was a major loss to us unless Honduras doesn't surpass the 4 goal lead against the Nicas...but I wouldn't be surprised if the Nicas let Honduras beat them by a lot of goals.
