Not much new but good to see the paper isn't just doing post match reports and pre match features. http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/apr/29/holt-stays-optimistic-with-usl/ it does give the average fan a look at the vision the league wants to take
Holt definitely has high hopes for next year. Do we really think USL1 will have 10 teams next year? I wonder if he is including the new Caribbean league in his plans?
Ten teams is very optimistic I think. I could see eight but I think alot is going to depend on what USSF "new" standards for Division 2 are going to be. that is the big unknown for both NASL and USL as to who recieves sanctioning in my opinion I think USL is going to push the regional aspect for its potential investors. Potentially I could see: Orlando FCNY Puerto Rico Austin Puerto Rico #2 Detroit (?) London FC (?) Cleveland (?) There is rumored to be another group out there that wanted in this year but held off that isnt one of the team mentioned but I cant anyone in the know to cough up a locations Dont for get that NuRock owns the USL rights to Atlanta (not realistic) and Birmingham, Alabama. I could see the owners investing in a team their to make the team numbers up I also wouldnt put it out of the realm of possiblity that some other clubs might come back to USL (minnesota? CP Baltimore?) . We saw some crazy stuff this off season! From what I can gather about the Caribbean league is still a couple years away and sounds like a separte division in USL2 if not a whole league in itself.
I would guess the most likely team to return would be Rochester. They're going to go wherever is best for them. And if USL is serious about coming back as DII and the whole regional thing, it wouldn't surprise me to see Cleveland back in the fold.
Don't forget that Charleston might go back up after the dust settles. But I guess I don't have to remind you of all people about that.
Why not? We're not even 40% positive at the moment that the 'Backs will ever field another team. Nurock could slip in while the 'Backs are screwing around, and pull the rug out from under them, which would be interesting if the USL loses D-2 altogether, and they slide a team into the NASL right under their nose . Just a thought.
It could happen. I serious doubt the Silverbacks return. I know Nurock controls/controlled a PDL team in Atlanta (Atlanta Blackhawks?) Of the two locations, I see Brimingham having the least risks involved. (no potential inter-league competition, no "major" league competition, no bad blood) Brimingham is a fresh start so to speak. I could see nuRock "giving" the ATL Franchise to another investor to sweeten the pot so to speak. I suppose if nurock wants to keep put geographically, they could give the Brimingham rights to a potential investor. Everything is gearing up for another very interesting season and post season off the field!
Of course the S-Backs would play at their stadium. Would NuRock try to play at the new Kennesaw stadium?
looks like a nice stadium they have. seats more than 8,000. did a bit of google-fu but couldnt find what type of surface it has. Still not sold on field turf although I understand some clubs desire for it.

nice. reading a couple of the artilces it is being billed as a "unquie Women's soccer-specific stadium. the universtiy is now developing a committee to explore the posiblity of adding a football team to their athletic program. Guess where they would play? yep. If they keep it as a soccer primary stadium, and the only other clubs using it are the universtiy fall soccer program and the WPS 15 matches, I could see it working for a third team as well. Add it concerts, the talk of lacross, football and HS events, scheduleing could be an issue. mikey
