Commendable performance by your side, I was always more worried in the match against you then the Dutch. You guys got hard done in group B, but definitely put in a valiant performance. I think if you were placed in Group A or D, you most likely would have gotten out.

Ask her if she wants a "Portuguese breakfast" in the morning. It will make up for any loss I am sure.

8th October 2005, WC qualifying against Liechtenstein at home. We were 0-1 behind at half-time, but two goals (the second in 85th minute) guaranteed us the top spot of the group. BTW, that was the last time we won a qualifying group.

Now, as benficafan3 said, one of those times was against England in Euro 2004, but I don't think it really counts, as we won in the penalty shoot-out, not by outscoring the opponent in the 90-120 minutes. So, a previous time where it happened was in a friendly in Sweden in 2002, when we were losing 2-0 starting from 24th minute, but then Portugal scored three goals, the last being in the 89th minute, LOL. The last competitive game against a somewhat tough opponent before the last game with the Netherlands where we won after conceding first was really in Euro 2000 against England (even though we had a comeback in Cyprus in-between, during WC 2002 qualifying).

I also remember a game back when Sa Pinto was our striker, I believe it was a Euro 2000 qualifier vs Hungary and they scored first and I think we won 3-1.

Guys , I have noticed a big difference

Walking around with a portugal shirt , hat or flag on the car I have noticed that people look at me a lot differently .

The only word I can describe these emotions I see on faces is : FEAR.

Yes fear. People are afraid of Portugal . Portugal is a real threat it seems

Many people were angry with our success

I seen images online of Italian fans in Toronto burning portugues flags celebrating their win over the powerhouse of world football that is the republic of Ireland .

I say this is a good sign. Portugal is a fearsome team and I believe if things go our way this could be a big year for our squad .

Ya a few Italian fans were pretty vulgar with my wife yesterday when they noticed here Portugal flag. I don't mind having fun but no need to be stupid and vulgar about it.

Yeah, that was a showing of character, but Hungary then was probably even worse than today. Back then we were MUCH superior to them, it was kind of given that we'd beat them... it was just a question of not choking in front of the goal. *Remembers Ukraine 2-1 Portugal from 1996*

Yeah, people just can't look at a team the same way after they actually see it playing :D

Just before the WC 2010 qualifiers I got a feeling that 2012 would be our year. It wasn't really me believing, it just was SOMETHING that hit me. Let's hope it becomes true, but really, we still have to struggle a LOT, and REALLY A LOT to even get through to the semi-finals, where it'd be even more difficult. We've shown our character to overcome one of our most difficult groups of all time, and we can only progress if we keep showing it. We're actually quite strong, our defense is decent, we all saw that Portugal may actually attack teams like Germany, Netherlands, etc, for quite long without fear of getting caught in the back. If the players believe they're strong, they WILL be strong. This is how good teams become champions. We just need to show it on the field and respect Czech Republic, and then we definitely will win.

A portuguese man got shot in Little Italy yesterday. Whether it was related or not, remains to be seen. Still, I get heat from italians more so. They hate us. Other countries respect us, but when it comes to italians, it always... " You guys dive too much!" "What has your team done?" 'Ronaldo is a grease head." "You're country is shit!" It pisses me off.
