Evans as a minimum should banned until Stu is able to return.

Fergie is the most biased low-life excuse-making POS manager the EPL has ever seen. The few words out of his mouth I can ever actually understand I take note to ignore.

Oh COME ON. They both went for the ball and Holden unluckily got injured. I ask you, if it was Evans who got the cut, would you be saying Stu should be banned until Evans was able to return? No you would not because that is just stupid. Unfortunate injury, but not malicious.

There was nothing unlucky about it. Evans jumped into him with his studs up, and yes, he got a piece of the ball also. Manchester United was going ballistic when the same thing happened to Nani. Now, crickets.

Good heavens, for the 1,000th time, no one said it was "malicious". It was stupid and reckless. Anyone who watched the video could see that.

Nearly 24 hours later, and still no word on Holden's status. I can't tell if that's good or bad.

Finally, some news. Tucked into a U.S. Soccer press release about Holden being withdrawn from the USMNT friendlies roster:

"Holden received a gash near his left knee that required 26 stitches after a horrific challenge by Jonny Evans in Bolton’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United yesterday. An X-ray revealed no broken bones, and Holden will be evaluated further today."

Interesting to see US Soccer use "horrific" in describing a tackle. I would expect them to be a bit more unbiased.

Where? The press release was issued only a few minutes before I posted.

Sorry, didn't mean that. I originally said that Holden had withdrawn, noticed you had already posted that and edited to reflect that. Not 100% up on BS etiquette/capabilities, but it didn't appear that I could delete it.

    The tackle wasn't honestly "horrific".

Anything that causes 26 stitches is horrific. In my eyes at least.

Re: Holden out for a hero: Stu at Bolton

In what sense? The degree of the injury? It was definitely a "horrific" challenge by Evans to cause that big of a gash in Holden's leg.

However, IMO, its not exactly a "horrific" injury if Stu escapes without any broken bones and/or major damage to any muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc.

Are we really debating the designation of it being horrific here?

    C'mon people.

Re: Holden out for a hero: Stu at Bolton

It's horrific simply because of the amount of jarring contact made. It was a studs up challenge where O'Shea put the full force of his leg and momentum into Stu's knee.

And Stu's not even close to out of the woods as far as uncovering knee damage. Initial X-rays are more of a formality with the knee. They are more prone to ligament then bone damage. We're still waiting to find out if the former occurred from the MRI, which take time to administer and read. It certainly looked like a major injury because of the aforementioned jarring contact to the most important joint for an athlete.

Hence the use of the word "if" in my statement.
